  1. device net

That basically depends on the device. Do you have any tables with what is available in the device that you can post here? If the device has a huge amount of information you may have to do explicit messaging. If only a few bits or words, you may only have to allocate a few input and/or output words. It depends on the device.
  2. NT612G "connecting to host"

Try setting everything up for bog standard host link not NT link. All the PLCs will talk host link. Here is a link to the Omron cable guide. Glad you got bored over there, although I go there a lot also. Here I am comfortable with my favorite PLC, although one has to use what the customer wants most of the time. We have a lot of customers in Oz where "if it ain't Allen Bradley it ain't beautiful". Omron Cables
  3. NT612G "connecting to host"

Have you tried pressing opposite corners of the screen to place it into "program" mode? This will allow you to check all the settings etc. The screen may have been set up for NT Link and you may be trying to connect via straight host link, or vice versa. This may help, it is the manual for the NT600M. I do not know that particular screen and cannot help with a manual but Omron do sometimes release equipment for Japan only. The NT600M manual should help you connect at least as all the Omron screens work the same way. Jay will see this and he may be able to help further with a manul. http://oeiwcsnts1.omron.com/pdfcatal.nsf/P...pdf?OpenElement
  4. easy question?

Power down the PLC, remove the battery and wait. This will erase the memory of the PLC.
  5. Cx-supervisor  to pc comunication

Why not Controller Link? Cheaper than Ethernet.
  6. Old omron comms without a seriel port

That's a bit of a pain in the A***. I use a Wiretek brand and it works OK but do not know if you have that brand over there. The best option is probably to buy a PCMCIA to serial converter from BB-Electronics. They look very good.
  7. Unknown symbol

Have not seen that one before. Sorry. Hope someone else can help. Maybe it has been developed by someone for a particular application and is not a standard symbol
  8. CX Upgrade

Man that is old. Contact Omron and pay for an upgrade. Cx-Programmer is now at V3.1 and server at 1.6.
  9. Unknown symbol

    Unable to open the file.
  10. cpm1a-cif01

You can buy one from your local Omron distributor. Do not know of anywhere else.
  11. cx-simulator

It is called CX-Simulator and works as a virtual PLC for CX-Programmer. You have to buy it from your local Omron dealer. No good without CX-Programmer.
  12. HELP with CS1 PLC

I have just replied to you Drew on the PLCS site. The only thing I would suggest with the CS1 is that if you are going to use Device Net, use the CS1 Device Net card. It can be programmed much easier than the old C200HE card. Also suggested there that you have a long look at the CJ1
  13. After Eddie's little pieces about extracting data from an AB Powermonitor 3000, and my reply about explicit messaging in a Omron PLC to get data into the right order, I made a comment about trying Pepperl & Fuchs absolute rotary encoders on Device Net. Very easy to use, but there is not a lot of data in these things. Direct reads into a channel. Omron CS1 PLC again, and, thankfully, Omrons latest Device Net configurator software. The first one was a bit of a dog. Only problem I had is I used some old C200H Alpha Device Net cards. Had them in stock and was not going to waste them. This meant using a PCMCIA card interface to the Device Net network. Guess what? Just bought a new laptop and it came with XP. The PCMCIA card does not work with XP or 2000. Had to go back to square one and install 98 for it to work. Hewlett Packard supply great laptops but their own operating system disks and they will only restore the laptop to factory original. Not going out to buy XP, so, redo laptop with 98 and 2000 dual boot system. PCMCIA card works first time in 98 (lucky). Found you can change resolution per rev and total resolution in the encoder. Now reading a total of 60 per rev - easy to convert to 600 mm of wire cable gone down the chute. The setup works a treat but not really useful for fast moving machinery - it is too slow for that. Would suggest high speed counter interface if speed is an issue when positioning machine heads etc. Now looking forward to next time when I can use the Omron CS1 or CJ1 Device Net card. No interface cards or anything - just use the standard programming port to program the scanner module through the CPU. Does not get much better than that.
  14. Software Draw

Most SCADA systems that I have used have a range of symblos with them or available from the website. If you have access to Citect anywhere it comes with a range of good symbols. Regards BobB
  15. Omron Cables

Go here http://oeiweb.omron.com/oei/ and select pdf files. Somewhere in there towards the end you will find a refernce that will give you all the Omron cable pinouts. Sorry I cannot give you the exact file but the server was down when I checked.
  16. A-b powermonitor 3000 on devicenet

Been there done that. Programmed a job about 12 months ago. Used 5 Omron CS1 PLCs and Device Net scanner cards (9 of them). Used 7 Powermonitor 3000s and some 80 Omron Device Net I/O blocks. The only way to communicate with the PMs was by explicite messaging. What a pain in the a*** to set up. Once I worked it out it worked great. Yes, you have to pull out the information in lumps and sort it in the PLC. Most Device Net equipment with large amounts of data are set up the same way. Worse than that I had to swap bytes for all words received (thank the lord for Omron's swap byte command) and then swap words to put them in the correct order for 32 bit words. That became tedious as the PLCs did not have a swap word command. Had to use the transfer command on each pair of words individually. If you have a PLC that will not handle IEEE754 word format, forget using these things. Just doing a job now with Pepperl & Fuchs Device Net rotary encoders and, once again, Omron CS1 PLCs. Same set up - data in lumps. Have not found out yet if I have to swap bytes and words to get the correct orientation of data. Oh well, have to earn my pittance somehow.
  17. Omron and Allan Bradley have signed technology and product agreements with each other. In Australia Allan Bradley sell Omron G2R relays under the AB name. The only difference is the bases are black not grey.
  18. Omron network

Sysmac Link works fine on C200HS, although rather expensive. Not sure about the C200H. It is pretty old now. For new projects suggest Controller Link. Not expensive and works a treat.
  19. Old omron comms without a seriel port

Apologies for the error. Cx-Programmer auto configures Toolbus to 115Kbaud. 155K?????? I wish. Also, the support of USB serial ports is not really an Omron software function but rather a Windows function. (Warning!!!!! It is a Microsoft product.) Does the Dell not come with a USB/serial converter as standard? A bit slack of Dell. If it has a modem try disabling it.
  20. Old omron comms without a seriel port

I have been using the CS1 ever since it came out. Therefore, have also been using Cx-Programmer for yonks. Had an old HP that worked fine. Bought a new HP XE3 with USB serial port. Great laptop. The dang thing also has an internal modem. Cx-Programmer could not find the serial port. Kept trying to grab the modem as the serial port. Disable the modem and all is well. Cx-Programmer works just fine. I use toolbus for comms as Cx auto configures comms speed to the CS1, Alpha and later PLC's at 155kbaud. Also, normally have multiple PLCs via Controller Link, usually 5 to 9 PLCs. My only complaint is that I have found verification errors with Cx version 2 and on one site had problems with Cx and Sysmac Link (SLK) to 9 PLCs from a computer. The computer is also running Citect through the FINS Gateway driver (older version). Cx garbaged a section of programme in a C200HS. The problem was Cx will not let you delete a garbaged rung online. Thank the lord I had Syswin on a laptop with me. I was able to delete the garbaged rungs. Could not turn the PLC offline to download as it is the master PLC running a 14 megawatt 11kV power station with 6 diesel generators. Syswin does not support the CS1 and CJ1 PLCs. Have not had time to try the latest version of Cx on a network yet, although Omron have thankfully fixed the printing function. Hope they have also fixed Cx to allow deletion of garbaged rungs online. The latest Citect FINS Gateway driver appears to be much better than the previous version. The Gateway also has new features.
