  1. Boycott the Super Bowl?

Hmm....I didn't know the MPAA and RIAA were running the NFL these days.
  2. Slight Cargo Ship Problems

    Your pictures backwords Alaric.
  3. Laptop IP

I use this guys little app. Works pretty good. Oh and I use it on XP even though he says it only works in 2000.
  4. PLC Law

  5. GE Fanuc 90-30 with KepServerEx

How are you connecting the 9030 to the computer that you are running the OPC Server on? Are using the programming cable?
  6. PME - Importing pieces of Code from Project to Project

You can also copy the code segment from one program, close it, open the new one and paste it. PITA but it works.
  7. Nicknames from the world of PLC's

Theres a guy here I call "Side Cutter" because anytime we are moving equipment or have to rewire something he will just cut all the dang wires leaving us no idea where anything goes. Once he cut a fiber optic sensor. I said "You realize I can't splice that right" I got an "oops" in reply, wish I could have charged the $500 bucks for the new sensor to him, that would teach him real quick.
  8. GE Charges for 5.5 Upgrade while your in SUPPORT!?!?

Well heres what really sucks. If you work for GE Supply you can't move to another GE division for two years. Could you imagine having 25 or 30 years in with a company and wonder if your pension just went up in smoke. I bet there are a few guys real nervous right now. As far as the Net Income versus Revenue, I guess I was thinking about that wrong, good think I'm not an accountant.
  9. GE Charges for 5.5 Upgrade while your in SUPPORT!?!?

Guess GE SUPPLY isn't my distributor anymore. Rexel buys GE SUPPLY $2.5 Billion in annual revenue and they sell it for $725 Million???
  10. Today's safety lesson.....

Nice to see that they won't be running their safety circuits through the PLC anymore.
  11. Today's safety lesson.....

Gear damper, that rings a bell. Wouldn't happen to be for a company located in Frankfurt IL would it.
  12. GE Charges for 5.5 Upgrade while your in SUPPORT!?!?

Steve, I understand that they are a distributor I was just being sarcastic. Basically all my post was saying is that I am geographically lucky to be close to GE Supply Warehouse with excellent people who are always more than willing to help me out when I have a problem. I guess I'm just glad that I can go through them rather than somebody else.
  13. GE Charges for 5.5 Upgrade while your in SUPPORT!?!?

Whats a distributor? I'm lucky, GE Supply has a warehouse/office literally 10 minutes away. I deal directly with them, no hassle, no middle man. Distributors call me all the time and I ask them can you get me parts for X price the next day or even the same day if needed. Most of them can't. Chris I suggest you just move your shop to the Naperville, IL area, there is a nice industrial park building up right around the GE Supply warehouse.
  14. Mechanical Press Two Hand Controls

I re-automated a press here that had an old modicon running it. No two had controls, no light curtains, pretty much no safeties on it at all. I did kind of a hybrid. I used a GE Fanuc Versamax Micro PLC for part selection and sequence control. For safety I used a Pilz Multi Safety Controller. All of the outputs from the PLC that control Solenoids go into inputs on the multi and ouputs on the multi actually control the solenoids. So if there is an unsafe condition the solenoids will not fire regardless of what the PLC is telling it to do. E-Stops and Light curtains feed into the Pilz as well, along with a raise button, which will abort the sequence and raise the die.
  15. EZMarquee from EZAutomation.net

The marquees are good for the price I guess. They can't read registers from your PLC or store any data in them. You have to send each message to them via the serial port in real time.
