  1. hi everyone! now I encounter a problem about communication. it is between the s5 ( type: 100u ) and a MMI monitor( NEMATRON, type: IWS-2123). information about the monitor: it displayed blank with a sudden poweroff several weeks ago and after repaired it now can display normally. when the monitor runs the post and everything seems normal in it, when it runs the program , it displays " plcerror" . i execute the self test program and it reports ok. i now have done things below: 1 I get a laptop to communicate with the monitor ( in the same com port) , and i can get files from it and transfer files to it . it seems the com port is ok. 2 I get a laptop to update the program in the s5 plc (100 u , being used now) , and the s5 plc runs well now. it seems the plc is nothing wrong. 3 i decide to change the cable ( type : mic-24/cl/p DB25<--->DB15) , cause there is a pcb between the two sides of the cable, it is not simply direct linked to each other. i borrow one (the same type with mine) and try again, but the same fault appears. possibility of two bad cables is samll, yes? i can not confirm these. and i check for the settings(communication format and so on) in the software configuration according to NEMATRON manual. nothing changed. and i also check for the jumpers in the workstation and found it ok. (information about the communication format : Chapter 9N Siemens S5 Programming Port Protocol The Siemens S5 series of controllers formerly included only the S5-101U and the S5-115U processors but now also includes the S5-135 processor. The Westinghouse PC500 also uses the Siemens S5 driver. Each requires a specific communications link protocol as described below. Hardware Setup The Workstation and the Siemens S5 controller only operate with the Workstation as the master and the S5 controller as the slave. The standard communication format for the Workstation appears below: 9600 baud 1 stop bit 8-bit word length Even parity Hardware handshaking Point-to-point (PT TO PT) communication The driver works only in a point to point configuration with the Workstation as the master, and the S5 controller as the slave. The following communication parameters are fixed on the S5 controller: 9600 baud 1 stop bit 8 data bits Even parity Because the S5 programming port is a 20 milliamperes (20 mA) current loop device, you must use a “current loop to RS-232 converter” to connect the S5 controller to the Workstation) andbody meets with this or has used the NEMATRON monitor or has a good idea about this? i need your help ! thanks!

  5. how to transfer between pc and pg?

hello JesperMP i won't shut down the cpu when i haven't really mastered the procedure and made out how to change the battery. looking up the manual, the battery holder should be pulled out towards me. But it may be blocked by something. I try some times and fail. i dare not use too much force. i wonder if there is something else i dont't konw. i will pull out the whole power supply to see how it could be when it is time for productive maintenance. and the last step about the procedure displayed"already existing in pc, overwrite?" . you are right. thanks again! rainofwind
  6. how to transfer between pc and pg?

thanks JesperMP i now get a new Li battery 3.6v 5Ah but as i operate according to the description in the manual i can't pull out the battery holder and at last i give up. and i have to turn to the third way. 'cause it just is a ram without battery. and refer to the 3rd method you mentioned i open the software STEP5 and try. i seem to master the procedure and it finally displayed "...(i forget) overwrite" or something else? maybe it is the last step. Is that right? thanks for your concern! rainofwind
  7. how to transfer between pc and pg?

good day everyone! i want to know how to transfer a s5 file between a laptop and a pg The OS is MSDOS 5.0 and the STEP 5 is Version 3.0 The cable is TTY. sorry i even don't know how to edit or programme a file with S5. 'cause I have no information about S5 software. and sometimes i have to switch off the power for plc and the user program will be lost after that.(i have no backup battery) what i need to do is to transfer the user file from lattop to plc. but i don't know how to operate. unlucky as i know the manuals i have don't refer to this question. maybe it is very simple for experts but i am a new one. so i need your help. Thanks! rainofwind
  8. MELSEC-K K2ACPU HELP

thanks FNMdeJong when i check the similar programs i think the F100 may be a convert instruction. it depends on what D110 is, 1 or 0 is just like a switch between BCD or BIN what i mean is it is to convert bcd to bin or on the contrary. but what confused me is there are two instructions as BCD or BIN in the instruction set. if it is really so i don't konw why they use F100 instead of using the two instructions. i want to prove it by wrting a segment using F100 and monitor the input and output. but it may get risk. i will follow your advice to contact the MIts and thanks for your help. rainofwind
  9. MELSEC-K K2ACPU HELP

hi everybody. sorry for i have mistaken kd71 for ad71 before. and i have made sure the device conneted to plc is ad61, i basically konw the function of F126 and F127 (instruction) similar in ad61 and how they operate by reading the manual of ad61 downloading from internet and now i think i may understand how f126 and how 127 is. of course it is mainly due to all your help. and i still don't konw the function of F100. but with the program followwing i may konw something about F100. the segment list as follow: 1 MOV D4 D113 MOV D5 D114 MOV K1 D110 OUT F100 MOV D111 D10 MOV D112 D11 2 MOV K0 D110 MOV K0 D111 MOV K10 D80 BCD D80 D112 OUT F100 MOV D113 D42 MOV D114 D43 what i think is: when (D110)=k0 input: D111, D112 output: D113, D114 when (D110)=k1 input: D113, D114 output: D111, D112 and the parameters format is BCD by segment 2 what i want to know is the function of F100 and how the parameters operate. any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. rainofwind
  10. Help with serial port

sorry i don't know if the tester you mentioned is ok. for i have performenced a test in my pc with the tester downloaded from the same website. but the result is disappointed. of course i use the default setting and there are no other devices connected to them. but they return no response. and as i know , the com1 and com2 can be used normally. i think you may try to check the property of the com to get more ioformation if there are conflicts between devices. (such as irq etc..) hopt it can be useful... rainofwind
  11. hi Maybe the setup file you downloaded have been corrupted, i mean it may lack of some files. i don't if some tips appear during your installation. and you have to clear related content of it using regedit32 when you want to uninstall it. (delete its directory and use a tool to clear the related content) according to the information you give it seems to lack of some files. check the setup file if it is ok or download a new file again. hope this can be use to you. rainofwind
  12. MELSEC-K K2ACPU HELP

Thanks for your help FNMdeJong Even though I don't know what kd71 is (I have googled for kd71, but the result appears meaningless), for i have checked against the wiring between K2Acpu and its external devices, but no kd71. Hence i will cost some time to understand the other F-series program at first, after that then I follow the F126,F127 and F100. Thanks all of you for your ideas and suggestions. best regards rainofwind
  13. Help with serial port

hi markn i know little about RSlogix and RSlinks. but from the posts you edited above, i think since the OS can detect the serial port, and the property of the serial port are normal. maybe this has nothing to do with hardware. The rest maybe is the setting and the driver. Are you sure the driver is ok? or the setting is normal? hope it can be your hlep. regards rainofwind
  14. MELSEC-K K2ACPU HELP

ThankS FNMdeJong! The concerned functions are F100, F111, F112, F113, F126, F127. They each repeat many times in the program. Thanks in advance! best regards! rainofwind
  15. MELSEC-K K2ACPU HELP

hi, FNMdeJong You advise me to programme the K-plc with F for functions. but I even don't know what the functions are and hwo can I proramme the functions with F? The point is not I want to use the functions but just I want to make clear what the functions are. the question happens during my reading a product line program. when i come across the F, i don't know what its meaning is. so i turn to the forum for help. And thanks to your help, i know the function of F112. Obviously it is not enough. i have to know the whole functions with F otherwise i don't think i will understand the concerned part of that program. do you think so? now i think i don't need the whole description of it but what i need is : the input and output parameters and the functions i thinks it is enough. lonking forward to your help. thanks a lot! best regards! rainofwind
