  1. CPX-terminal GSD File

Hello sirs, I have some CPX-terminal (CPX-8DE,CPX-4DE,CPX-8DA, CPX-4DA, ...) from Festo to use with Profibus DP. I'll use a Siemens PLC to read/write them. So, I have a question about the addressing using STEP 7 S7-300 (Config Hardware). A module with 8 inputs has a Festo address of Ix, Ix+1, etc. In Step 7 it would be, for example, I10.0 to I10.7. Am I right ? And more, if the module has 4 inputs (or outputs), will it use a whole byte ? In other words: I10.0 - I10.3 --> used in fact I10.4 - I10.7 --> addressed but not used (no access) One more thing, I don't have a complete CPX-terminal GSD file. Can anyone send me or tell where can I obtain it ? I hope that I've been clear in my question. Thanks in advance ... Best regards, Berg

  3. OP 17 HMI

Hallo, Yes, you can do a backup of programs from OP17. In Protool, File>Download>Backup... you have two options: complete backup (all program) or recipes backup. All datas are saved in a file. And to download from PC to OP select in Protool File>Download>Restore... (select the name's file saved previous). Note: OP17 must be in download mode (ready for transfer message). I hope I have helped you. Regards, Berg
  4. S7 300 and CP341 PtP

Hallo darko79, I don't know if I've understood you question. So, in hardware config (HW Config) after the module CP341 having been inserted, click on the module (in rack config) with right mouse button and select object properties (Alt + Return) and there, there is a field that you can change the name. Please, I hope it was your doubt. Regards, Berg
  5. Pulse Counting

Hi, You can see more informations about functions modules on Siemens website. But let's see your questions. If your motor has 4 poles and the frequency is 50 Hz, and there isn't gearbox between the motor and encoder, the max. frequency is 12.5 kHz. There is an one-channel counter module (FM350-1) for direct connection of incremental encoder. The counting range is 32 bit or +/- 31 bit and the counting frequency is 500 kHz (if you'll use 5V RS422) or 200 kHz (if you'll use 24 V). You can use 10 V to control your drive. There are a couple of analog modules. The SM322 has 2 outputs (0-10V, +/- 10V, 1-5V, 4-20mA, +/-20mA and 0-20mA) with resolutionod 11 bit + sign and 12 bit others. But if you need more channels you can take another module with more channels. So, that's it. Regards, Berg ------------------------------------------------------
  6. Pulse Counting

Hi Callisto, If you'll use S7-200 in your application, you can only use Micro/Win to program this king of PLC. Step 7 Manager is used to program S7-300/400. Well, you told that the max frequency motor is 50 Hz, but it is the frequency of motor's constrution. So you need to know how many poles the motor has or what is the max revolution's motor (rpm). And is essential to know how many pulses your encoder gives per revolution to know the max frequency of pulses. Is the encoder linked directly in the axis or is there a gearbox ? These informations are necessary to especify the correct CPU. For example CPU 224 XP support 200 Khz . And PLC works with 24 Volts, so 5 Volts won't work if you'll connect it directly. I hope I've helped you. Regards, Berg
  7. Clearing Memory

Hi, Do you have a PG 740 from Siemens ?? With it you can erase the EEPROM very fast. Regards, Berg
  8. Pulse Counting

Hi Callisto, Bapi is right, take care about these features. And to program your application, the MicroWin has a Wizard and there you can see/program all steps using High Speed Counter (HSC). Wizard makes it very simple. Take a look there and if you still have questions, please return it here, ok ?? Best regards, Berg
  9. Siemens Relay Module Problems

Hi JayC, I think the problem is the current peak when you turn on the coil of the solenoid. For a little moment the current is 3 to 7 times the nominal current. So, when I had this problem I changed the modules to transistors and in the outputs of them I've connected standard relays (6 - 10 A) to turn on the solenoids and the problem disappeared. I hope I've helped you ! Best regards, Berg
  10. Step5 Program Comments - How To?

Hi gruntstripe, In S5 program the comments/list and the user program are saved in differents files. I don't have the S5 software installed right now. But I can tell you some directions. When you open the file, there is a field to insert the user program file and another to insert the file that contains the comments/list. So, you have to both files (uploaded file - program user and the coment/list file). Sorry, unfortunately I don't have the software installed and I can't give you precisely steps , but I can tell you that S5 works with separated files. I hope I've helped you .... Best regards, Berg
  11. Hi, I'm using an OP17 with S7-200 224 and working with recipes on OP17. Is possible to read on PCL the name of the data record stored on OP17 in real time (without transfering command) ? I need to read the NAME not the number of record data ! Ex. In the file attached (transfer screen picture) the NAME stored is JUICE, and this name I need to transfer to PLC. Please, I need your help . Thanks in advance .. Regards, Berg
  12. connection cpu226

Hallo, Well, I think you can try putting the PLC in Stop mode. Than you have to make 3 attempts: 1) Select DIP in the cable to 9.6 Kbps and try with a Double-Click to refresh, seaching for a valid Address port; 2) Select DIP in the cable to 19.2 Kbps and try with a Double-Click to refresh, searching for a valid Address port; 3) Select DIP in the cable to 187.5 Kbps and try with a Double-Click to refresh, searching for a valid Address port; If these attemps didn't work, perhaps the PLC has been configurated with a different baud rate, try with a USB cable selecting in communications frame the box (Search all baud rates) and a double-click to refresh. Hope this helps, regards. Berg
  13. Hallo, I'm new about Allen Bradley PLC, so I have simple questions to do. Do the Micrologix 1000, 1200 and 1500 use the same PC-PLC cable to download/upload the program ? Where can I find the scheme of these cables or a single cable ? Can I build them ? Thanks in advance, regards. Berg
  14. S7-200 Communication with drives

hallo, You can use USS protocol to communicate PLC and drive, but check if your drive accept it. Please, take a look on Siemens web site for USS protocol between S7-200 and MicroMaster (Siemens' drive), you will have a good idea about it there. Best regards, Berg
  15. Siemens S7 300

hallo, You need SIMATIC Step 7 to program/monitor PLC S7-300. You can use Windows XP or 98 as well. To connect you PC to PLC you'll need a PC adapter cable. Siemens has two options RS232 ou USB to RS485 port: 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0 -> RS232 to RS485 6ES7 972-0CB20-OXA0 -> USB to RS485 So you can choice between these two options. Best Regards, Berg
