Hi JasperMP, this is exactly what I did, added ehternet module to s7-300 configuration in step 7 (the tool is NetPro i think), and in pc station i added opc server v6.4, and application. then create a connection for opc etc, and chose all symbols in opc object properties. i see the symbols now when i use some opc client, like opc scout and also cx-supervisor. my question is, since on the site s7-300 doesn't have ethernet module (only profibus dp) and it will communicate with pc station with opc server through MPI (so pc station has the adapter for MPI), will this configuration of opc in my office, with ethernet, work when I migrate it to the on-site hardware (i.e. pc and real plc). thank you P.S. all this confusion in my head is for me being omron user. to create omron cx-server opc project you just need a .cdm file with symbols and it is very easy to create it from any existing cx-programmer project (plc project). no need for any hardware for any part of opc setup. with siemens, step 7 cannot export symbols to sti file which opc server can import. that's why you need to create a configuration.

thanx on reply very much. opc server vendor is siemens, it's a simatic net software. didn't i mention it?

so, it is not possible to create opc project on pc without the hardware used to connect s7-300? on my table in the office, there is no plc, no future pc which will be running opc. i tried the following: in step7 project i added the ethernet module to the s7-300 (cp-something) and configured pc to be networked with s7-300 through ethernet network since the pc has ethernet card. on the opc server module of the simatic pc station right click - there is option insert new connection. select it, that is s7_connection1, and configured it to be from ethernet card of the pc to the ethernet module of the s7-300. downloaded to the pc station (which is this office pc). Then, with opc scout I was able to browse symbols from step 7 project. but, when this is reconfigured to the real on the site (no ethernet but MPI) will it work?

i think just one button, stop is if there is some stuck. you should test it.

Thanx on response. As I understood it, you friend HAD such a hardware S7-LAN right? My question is, is it possible to create opc project based on step 7 project (reusing symbols mainly) WITHOUT any hardware that is defined in step 7 project (where the simatic 300 station and PC station are defined communicating through MPI - now, that is what the config will be on the site, but now in the office I don't have any hardware, just software)? so far, i realize that it is not possible to create opc without hardware that is in the project. hope i am wrong. thank you very much on the response.

screen from a project or from ns device? first case: file -> print, choose Image file output details. second case: create a ON/OFF button on a sheet that is included on every screen you want to print or save to memory card with a $SB25 address. that triggers the print/capture function. $SB26 stops it, $SB30 is busy status. hope this helps

interesting...anyone knows will it be able in europe?

agree. also maybe to set the default value of the system points.

cx-supervisor InputPoint failed to get updated (it is blocked) !
tashinz replied to pro17's topic in CX-Supervisor
I had that problem also, when the point is not updated. but, altough i set up point correctly, it didn't appear in PLC maintenance dialogue. so I concluded that the point is lost somewhere in compiling process... the same thing was happening with alarms, the point is updated but alarm is not notified. this happend to me on the several projects, earlier more often but with 1.32 and 1.33 versions just once. I solved it by renaming that points in developer, alarm also, compile project again, and there it is, point is shown in PLC maintenance dialogue, updating. it never broke down again. wanted to report that as bug but was forgetting allways. in this case maybe update cx-server and cx-supervisor (to 1.33 (1)). I cannot tell if there is some implications for using two same SCADAs, but maybe try to rename the PLC in one project - it is one click job since it updates all points to the new plc name immediately. also, why making two projects on the same machine? merge it into one. -
yes, had that problem. it is also occuring wherever the constant of real type is used since it handles decimal point.

you should use $HW zone in NS (it is retained after power off). on every change of the label number ($SW10) pass the value to the e.g. $HW10. then on startup put the when loading project macro in which you should set the $SW10 with $HW10. didn't test but it should work.

the new cx-designer 2.1 that comes with cx-one 3.0 should offer better font support for numeral and string display/input objects. still, it is awful. other than standard, fine and rough fonts there is 7-segment numeral - cannot display units e.g. Kg, Scalable gothic - don't know why it is scalable, it can display units but it is so, so ugly, and there is Gothic Numeral - not so bad looking but cannot display units. in one word - bad. why it is problem to implement windows fonts like it is possible for all other labels?
-
Well, yes there is a easier method. you can use excel table to create lots of points and then paste it back to cdm file.
-
you just select the cx-1.3 target like you select machine edition or plus target. then all features not supported by cx-1.3 are disabled. simple ha?

didn't test it in a production enviroment, but here in office it works. so far.

I am pretty sure that this is not possible using CX-Supervisor but maybe some third party programs. I have a cx-supervisor project that logs data only during the process of production. so when the process is over, data logging is stopped and that file is copied into new dlv file with custom name (date time operator program.dlv). that way I have a report folder with dlv files for every executed program of production. then operator can open specific dlv file and print it. the way program is executed can be changed using reciepes. Now, customer wants the report to be created in the following way: the picture of data log (from dlv file) in the bottom of the page, and above table of reciepe that is used and other info - operator, date time etc. I can creat a page in cx-supervisor with all data needed and use printpage command, but there is no way I can include the picture of data log viewer. Maybe someone had and solved this kind of problem? btw, report creation is another topic that can be mention in CX-Supervisor improvements thread. many thanx

there is a cx-s 2.1 (15) upgrade on omron download site. still nothing of find / replace feature but they put an option to compile project to cx-s 1.3 target. this is great.
-
I agree, but this is much better than before. so, keep improving. Maybe someone know, since this patches are not just patches but whole application - e.g. CX-Designer update is 125MB - maybe it is not needed to install all updates but only the last one? I guess, given the size of the files, that every new update - which is whole app - already includes earlier updates. is it true?

there are two options in cx-designer when adding a controller link host: SYSMAC-CS/CJ and SYSMAC-CV. don't have experience with this but I guess for cqm1h you should choose SYSMAC-CV.

the trouble is here, that no other shareware software should be used. the idea I have is to use some free capture screen software the can be set up to send captured screen to the default pdf printer - also free like tinyPDF. this way i do this: make a cx-s page with all requested data - recipe table, operator name, date, time etc, below is the data log viewer window. this screen capture program works in the background and waits command - it can be some hotkey, I send hotkey e.g. F12 (how would I do that?), it captures the whole screen and sends to pdf writer which is preset to print to some file. then from cx-s I copy that file to report folder with custom name e.g. date time recipename operatorname.pdf. this come up to me today, found this super screen capture program (that's the name) but didn't have time to try it. will do next week. thanx for help btw, it's nice to know you're not alone. i ask an iFix expert colleague of mine how he should solve this on some standard iFix SCADA configuration, there is the same problem. as it makes life easier.

sometimes, not often, but sometimes, I have a field in cx-s that should display the value from plc in hexadecimal format i.e. if there is a value AF1D in D100 in plc that should be displayed in scada. also it has to be edited in hexadecimal format. this is not possible now. it is possible in NS and NT. for now, I have to write script for this simple feature.
-
The auto save feature behaves strange. if you set up the auto save for 10min cycle (default), you normally make changes on your project, and if you want to exit scada and discard all the changes it is not possible if the autosave feature has just done its job. then I cannot undo, nothing. autosave should guard you from sudden crashes not to save my project without my allowance. as backup, right? this is not the case here so it should be improved.

feel so lonely.

Say, E5CN doesn't have rs232 comm card, the E53-EN01 is for E5EN and E5AN. E5CN can only be on RS485 communication line. or i am missing something.

it's a word C0001. depending on how you monitor address C0001 you get flag or counter pv. e.g. if you put in monitor window in cx-programmer address C0001 as channel you'll see counter's pv. if you put C0001 as bit you'll see completition flag. if you do mov C0001 into D200 you'll get pv in D200.
