  1. Electro-craft 2000

I guess I've answered my own questions. This info was not very easy to find: 1) The software is Rockwell IQ Master (Windows, free download from Rockwell) 2) The very nice feature of these drives is they all come with a removeable EEPROM, akw: 'Personality Module'. Therefore, if a drive fails and you have a replacement, swap the modules, copy the dip switch settings, and your back up....unless the problem is the 'Personality Module' ............
  2. 9300-rades

Well the problem is with our new DID IP phone lines or the D>A translation bridge. I could not send or receive a FAX when connected to this line. I patched in one of our old loop-start analog trunks and the modem works fine.....
  3. Rs Logix- Win98 Or Xp

IBM ThinkPad 2300 series. Win XP Pro (with A/B's firewall patches). __PanelViews & Port 0 DF1 = Belkin USB to Serial converter. __DH485 = 1747-UIC __DH+ = PCMMK/B All works very well!
  4. I understand A/B has owned this company since 2000. So does anyone know anything about these drives. What software is used to communicate with them? What pitfalls are in store? etc? JRS
  5. Ton Question

    How about an OSR instead?
  6. 9300-rades

TW, No connect, just negoation until time out.. .
  7. 9300-rades

Does anyone have any experience with these. One of our vendors has placed two of them in our plant, and they never seem to work when they are needed. They finally got the first one to work after 2 replacements and a year's time. Now the number 2 machine is having a problem, and they keep smacking to ball in my court by saying it's a phone line problem. Well, I'm going to haul a FAX machine to the SLC's location and send a FAX to that phone line. Won't that prove the phone line is good?
  8. Panelview Classic Pds Ver. 5

Update (2/21/06). Since A/B 'extended' the delivery of my 'migration kit', again, I cancelled the order I placed with A/B on January 11th, and purchased another one from eBay. Thanks to Gravitar and Hakko I completed the job using DOS / PDS and HMI's from eBay. Material total cost was $3740. Not bad considering the Rockwell A/B solution was estimated at $16,440. Thanks all, JRS
  9. Reboot-itis

Interesting..I've noticed something similar but different: __1 - RSView PC (Ethernet to SLC5/05, with local only subnet) = It looses the LInx Driver about every 4th main power failure. __2x - RSView PC (Ethernet to SLC5/05, local only subnet) = 'Fault 4170' if power cycles on/off rapidly. The three units above are separate systems with hubs. However, they are not connected to anything else __2x - PanelView Plus (Ethernet to SLC5/05 to company-wide intrarnet) = Experienced no problems at all since installation. Seems to be every bit as stable as our older SLC5/04/DH+ networks. Strange, maybe our unplanned power fail re-boots are responsible for the PV+ stability. Now that we have the power fail problem fixed, do you think I'll see PV+ problems? btw - Most of our Ethernet/SLC systems require a manual re-start after a power failure. Do yours?
  10. Panelview Classic Pds Ver. 5

Update: 1) No, you cannot use PDS Ver 3 as a FTU for PDS ver 5 files. 'File created by later version..etc..etc' errors. 2) I got the line running. I found a 'new' PV1200 on eBay, and simply swapped the drawers. 3) Still waiting for the 'Migration Kit' (PV1200 to PV1000E) to arrive from A/B. I'll replace the other PV1200 when it arrives. The 'kit' includes a copy of PanelBuilder 1400e. So I'll find out how well it works with the PV1200. Summary - If yoou have any of these old PanelViews (1200s), make sure you have a plan of action to address a failure. A/B is not much help, because their only answer is the migration kit, and these have a 6 to 8 week lead time. I got lucky, beacuse the failure was not on the logic board. Thanks all....
  11. Panelview Classic Pds Ver. 5

The 'dead' one has no display. It had some shrinking problems, before it went blank. Probably a failure of something in high voltage area. I cannot upload from it because I can't see the configuration screen. I hope I can swap something and get it running.....The 1400e migration kit will be here Thursday, and an eBay 2711-TA1 will be here Friday.
  12. Panelview Classic Pds Ver. 5

Update - I was able to upload the program from one of the 2711-TA1/G 5.13 units I'm trying to upgrade, to PDS ver 3.0. Do you think the download will be OK, even though the PDS/DOS software is much older than the terminals I'm dealing with. I have no plans to change any of the screens or functions, just upload and download. I think PanelBuilder 1400e is included with the 'care' (migration kit) package I'm expecting from A/B. In addition the 'kit' I have a new/old replacement 2711-TA1 G 5.13 located. Of course the real task will be to get the program out of the 'dead' one. Any ideas on how to deal with the 'dead' unit? JRS
  13. Hello All, Does anyone have version 5 A/B PDS for DOS? I have V3, but my PanelViews are 2711-TA1 (G) 5.13. Thanks,
  14. PanelView 1200

Ken, Thanks for the quick reply. As I understand the 'migration kit', will do your number 1 choice. But, let me tell a bit more. The bagging line control consists of 3 SLC 5/04s and 2 old (1997) Panel Views. It appears to be DH+. However, the Panel Views do not show up in RSWho, but the 3 SLCs do. If I had the orginal RSLogix files I would probably just do a PV+, since it appears all HMI I/O is done with the B3:xx file. Does anyone know if the migration kit is capable of extracting a usable file from the old Panel View? You see, I don't have the either the PDS DOS or Panel Builder 1400 files......
  15. PanelView 1200

Has anyone tried the 2711-(very old TA1 & etc) to PanelView e migration kit. I think the part # is 2711E-UTC10 etc.. We have two 1997 TA1's that are going down on a bagging line. The vendor is bankrupt and we don't have the files, programs, or any of the old programing tools. I have a 2711-UTCT10SW migration kit on the way. Quite a deal at $8K plus....Will this be easy? Or not?
