    We were using Osisoft PI for several years, it has it's own "dashboard software" were you can see trends, live values, historic values as well as an excel addin to create reports etc.. Negative point: it's really expensive.

    Hi, probably bit too late but we use S7 Excel Connect for some months now. It's useful to get and write realtime S7 data using Excel.

    You could probably use 'S7 Excel Connect' for live and logging data in Excel without the use of the webserver or other third pary software.
