  1. File Name: Backup Tool for Keyence PLC File Submitter: plcutils File Submitted: 6 Nov 2006 File Category: Utilities Backup Tool for Keyence PLC (ver.1.2) is a really great software tool for Keyence PLC. It can do: * easy backup/restore the PLC firmware without the Ladder Builder. * put any .cod files into the Keyence PLC * PLC to PLC raw copying: copy PLC firmware from one Keyence PLC to another without any troubles If you have a good working PLC it can be clever to make backup of firmware prior installing updates patches or other modificatios. Additionaly you don't need to teach your production personnel how to use the Ladder Builder. They will not mixed up all the PLC program source code. Software runs on any Windows and comatible with KV and visual KV Keyence PLCs. Read more about Backup Tool at http://plcutils.com Click here to download this file

  4. Dear PLC collegues, I had one idea to make a PLC related software site and I have reserved a domain name for it. Now it looks like I found another idea and I don't need this domain anymore. If you are interested in PLC-TOOLS.COM , I have listed it on tdnam.com Domain was registered with godaddy.com private registration service and was never advertized in the internet Thank you,

Hello rduen, To protect Keyence PLC program from reading, many PLC experts put MEMSW $8000 command at the beginning of the program. BUT, it protects it from Keyence Ladder Builder only. Any person can read such "pseudo" protected program the same way as Ladder does it with 0x32, 0x00, command. Keyence has not implemented any real read protection. Probably because not many people really need it - there are other ways to protect you work. For example our Datamemory Editor (tool for direct modification of DM values in PLC program without a source code) or Backup Tool (to read and write back a PLC program) reads any Keyence PLC program regardless of that MEMSW. I know at least one another software from another company who reads any Keyence PLC and that software was existing before ours. So there is no protection. Unfortunatelly. But you can try to protect your programs using other ways: licenses, hardware check, etc. Steve
  8. Hello All, Finally, version 1.0 (release) of the DM Editor for Keyence PLC is published. How to use DM Editor (Flash presentation 380 kb) Download working demo (560 kb) To read more please visit PlcUtils.com web site.
  9. Hello Cy, If you need to change DM value temporally (untill PLC restart) you can send "WR DMxx yyyy "command via RS-232 , like "WR dm10, 100". If you need to change DM value permanently you should modify a program inside the PLC . There are few ways to do it without the Ladder Builder: 1. You can use our "PLC Easy DM Editor" software utility. At the moment it is in state of Beta version. We expect to have the release version v.1.0 in September 2005. If you would like to have the beta version, please send your email to support at plcutils.com 2. If you want to do it from your software you can use our SDK to read program from PLC, modify DM or Timer values and program it back into the PLC. See: SDK for Keyence PLC For both options you don't need to have a source code of PLC program.
