Ok thanks I will look at keyence unit
-
I have tried converting barcode strings to integers and then comparing them but it is very messy, I have found a red lion unit with crimson software that I can type all the codes into then compare scanner input for match and set result direct to plc example has 16 jobs so will have to alter program and try
-
I have done it like this at present, but cant fit more than 150 or so strings in memory, even doing two compares in each string I dont have enough memory, even less with the micrologix
-
I am looking for a device that will receive information from a barcode scanner, compare it to say 300 stored strings and output job number to an slc or micrologix, any help would be appreciated

After power cycling one of our machines, the l32e module is not communicating via Ethernet. ,hmi etc show errors waiting for connection to slot 0,rs who finds the 4 other devices but not processor, I have also tried directly to l32 module with no luck, I can connect via serial ok but can not find anything wrong. Does anyone have a suggestion to try? thanks -
Help with string lengths required
heron8888 replied to heron8888's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Thankyou very much for your help, that worked just as required -
I am scanning labels into a micrologix 1500lrp unit port 1 I need to scan 3 labels, all with different lengths, the first is 6 long, the second 9, and third 12 or possibly variable long, I am using the ard command, and want the first transferred to st15:1, 2nd to st15:2, and 3rd to st15:3, my program works and scans them all but if I set len to 12, it doesent transfer the shorter code due to the dn bit not getting set, any help would be much appreciated

I have had a reply from Honeywell, which confirms that there unit is 5v ttl rs232 designed for comercial use, and will not work to my AB module but is fine to a pc. I am ordering a Datalogic unit which I am assured will work.

Thankyou, I have contacted Honeywell technical if that fails I will try this.

I am trying to replace a barcode scanner, connected to an Allen Bradley basic module, using hyperterminal I have set the new unit, to give the same output (code cr lf) at 9600 baud,as the old scanner and get identical results. But with the new scanner connected to the basic module, I get no data in the module buffer when scanning. The new scanners are marked rs232 ttl is this the cause of my troubles?

SLC 5/03 to Print tickets

I also use zebra printers, they can store forms(labels) and add variables, like time and date, sequence number etc, so as barcodes etc, are already stored in the printer, you only have to send, via rs232- fr 001 to print label one etc the complicated labels, are designed on simple windows label program, this makes it much simpler.
