what's wrong with it. i "repaired" few of them that had the flat cable damaged.
repar was basicaly:
- cut of the cable along box edge before opening it
- open box and throw away the cut piece of cable
- insert remaining part of the cable that was still with connector
- squeeze and close the box.

but this is as far as i would go (and i like to fix things).
this is old unit anyway, did you consider switching to UIC module?

Thanks Guys... I think I'm going to opt for the $49 replacements and quit carring that brick around.

Thanks Panic... I have the UIC but I'm still pissed at AB that they can't fix the error you get when burning to eeprom. I like my old faithful comm port communications. All the bad PICs I have give me a Communications error 00000005 in RSLINX. It could be loose wiring, you can get communication every once in a while. It's really odd, I've gone through 3 this month, it's like my car the day after the warranty ran out.

well as said, check the flat cable right where it leaves the box. another common problem is broken off retainer clips. PIC box might be bulky but rest of it is fragile and requires lot's of TLC
