I am vary new to this so please forgive the questions.
I am going to set up a ml1100 with a barcode reader using a ASCII to EtherNet/IP™ Gateway from Real Time Automation.
There manual that is sent with the interface isn't much help with the programing I need.
This ml1100 will be used with Plant Metric's to track work order and part number data with machine run times.
I am going to training next month but would like to try and get some of this worked out before i go.
I'll have better question when i get there that way.
My question is this.
Has anyone used this gateway and could they share any code that they used?
Thanks, This is a great web site and I am learning a bunch just from reading everything I can.

Hi mracer and welcome to MrPLC

Do you have a manual you can post or link for the converter? The Micrologix 1100 does not do Ethernet/IP messaging.

I'm not saying that it can't be done, need to look at the specifications

Here is a link to the gateway information.

As I understand it, the gateway will write the data to the N7:xxx file with minimal code. but they don't give me much about how the code works. I think I understand what is going on, just not sure I understand how to make it happen.
I have the ml1100 working now with it's IP and can talk to it on the network.

Yes, not much information about the specifics there. I'm guessing that you are purchasing the 435NBS or one of its equivalents.

Now make sure you check with the manufacturer but chances are it really is pretty much that easy. Setup the IP address of your Micrologix and set up the serial side. Then the converter will do the rest. It says it doesn't even us a MSG instruction but it does require one rung of logic. I would doubt it will be that complicated. Perhaps some ASCII conversion.

But call the manufacturer and get back with us please. It looks like a very nice product

Thanks TW
I will keep you posted.
I think I will call on Monday after I get the IP ready for the gateway.
I'm hoping it works like they are saying. It will make this project vary simple.
I am in a vary up hill learning curve on this. I have been given a Jan ! ready date for the Plantmetric's project on this machine. This is the first of about 15 that will need data collection.
The good thing is the employer I work for is vary pro training. So when I asked to go to Dallas, I had no problem.

Thanks again.

I have it running.
Vary easy and will work nicely.
There manual is a little short on some information but the phone support was great.
If anyone has any question feel free to e-mail and I will try to help if I can.
