I have experienced some intermittent major faults with an L-55 processor.
I had this problem on version 8. Last October I upgraded to version 13.
I had another fault recently.

We have the Tech Connect contract, however they have not been able
to offer any reason for the faults.

Is anyone else experiencing this type of problem?

Thanks

What is the major fault type and code. Also if the fault was specified to the program and rung give us that. Can you post your program?

If you gave these details to techsupport, don't expect any answers.
It is like "my car broke, can you tell me what's wrong?"

Every major fault has an error code.
What was a code when you got online?

You need should give us details to get help.

When it faults next time do a screen capture of the following

The details given to tech support have been very specific.
The fault code was a 60.
Tech support has reviewed the application program and say that is not the problem.
Tech support has been sorking on it for about six weeks, claim they have not ever seen
a problem like it.

Well can you give us the specific information so we can try to help you? Hardware and Software.

And take it easy on Tech Support. This problem could be a new flaw but you will usually find that it is some small bit of information that they need. I have found that it is best to write down everything that happened at the time of the fault no matter how small before you call Tech Support, then check it off as you discuss it with them. Just remember, they have not seen your machine so you need to make the process clear to them so they can help you out

As I stated the fault code was a 60.
Unrecoverable major fault.
The memory and program were cleared as a result.
There was nothing abnormal going on.
The application is very simple mostly simple motor control.

Tech Support may be able to solve your problem with that little of information, but I'm going to need more information to help you.

What is it on? What is the hardware (part numbers, series, revision of all PLC hardware)? What is a very simple mostly simple motor control application consist of? Can you post your program? How often does the machines power cycle? How often does this fault occur? Anything else you can think of will be helpful.

I'm not going to beg you for this information. If all you are going to give us is small pieces of information and expect us to fill in the blanks then sorry, I can't help you.

If you have memory cleared and fault 60, did you write LED status when this happen?

Did you get fault log extraction utility from techsupport?
LED pattern would tell techsupport if fault log was created.
Even fault log was created, it is not guarantee that it contains a specific info on this issue.

Nothing more you can get on this forum, contact techsupport and work with them.

Have you considered changing the processor? Perhaps you have a defective memory address that gets written to once in a while and faults. A co-worker has seen that. He doesn't remember what the error code was or if any showed up but replacing the processor worked.

I did a project several years ago and had a similar problem. Intermittently it would fault and clear the memory. I eventually, by luck found that on the back side of one of the cards had a small piece of metal shorting out two of the pins. This internally faulted the control net back plane and caused the memory to corrupt.

Just a thought.

Power issues? Do you have a UPS, surge protection, contstant voltage transformer stuff like this

to protect your processor. Spikes from load switching? Good ground? Just some things to think about.

Sorry, but this issue has nothing to do with power issues. I clearly stated above what needs to be done.
