how to communicate control logix plc with wonderware SCADA via ethernet via rs linx
using OPC . is it possible

to communicate a CLX system with WW INOTUCH via RSLINX
it is required to create an OPC topic in the RSLINX .
go to OPC/DDE in RSLINX--> one browser will come up

in that browser create a new OPC topic and make sure this new topic points to your CLX PLC.
apply the changes done.

then in WW INOTUCH create an access name as following:-
node name = keep blank -- if you are using RSLINX on a local machine(this is recommended) or the name of the machine where RSLINX GATEWAY is installed
application name = RSLINX
topic name = the name of the OPC topic which you created in RSLINX
the above explanation was for a standalone CLX PLC to communicate with INTOUCH

if you are having a Redundant CLX PLC system then you will require the
CONTROLLOGIX redundancy alias topic switcher , which is a small software which comes bundled with the firmware CD in your RSLOGIX bundle

follow the same procedure for the redundant system but
here you will create two OPC topics, one each for one CLX system.
say you have created topics PLC_A and PLC_B.
now go to OPC/DDE ----> ALIAS TOPICS in RSLINX and configure a new alias topic say PLC_SYSTEM
add the two topics you have just created to the alias topic and make sure the check box "switch on command" is checked ,all other checkboxes(there are two more--i cant remember them) must be unchecked.

now install the CLX redundancy alias topic switcher software as i told earlier
open the Switcher software and here configure the three parameters as required
one is the name of the alias topic(PLC_SYSTEM), second and third are the two OPC topics(PLC_A and PLC_B). make sure you activate the alias topic switcher ,there is one button to do this

now in wonderware again you will do the same thing
node name = keep blank -- if you are using RSLINX on a local machine(this is recommended) or the name of the machine where RSLINX GATEWAY is installed
application name = RSLINX
topic name = the name of the ALIAS topic which you created in RSLINX

after this make sure you use this access name for all your tags and set the addresses properly for your tags

do this and you are done
