Hi
I have a encoder with the descrpition on it " +5volts on the red " My question is can I hook it up to a AB 1200 1762-L24BWA and how do you hoook it to the plc


Leads ----Function
red--------- +5volts
black-------- common
white -------CH A
green-------- CH B
SHIELD------- CASE GRD

You can't. You need a 24VDC encoder



After that look at THIS technote A17586 - "Quick Start " Using the High Speed Counter ( HSC ) for the MicroLogix 1200 and 1500

Post the part number and manufacturer of the encoder you have if you need help changing the part number the 24VDC

The encoder is a MOTION CONTROL DEVICES

MODEL NO ---- C-0102-0 SIN 08850228 CUSTOMER P/N 82884

Not sure about that company. You may need to call them to figure out the 24 VDC equivalent
