The 1747-UIC is not a USB to RS232 converter. It is a USB to DH485 converter.

See attached:

Most MicroLogix 1000 controllers (for about the past 7 years) can use both DF1 Full Duplex and DH485 protocols.

The 1747-UIC ONLY supports DH485 protocol.

The MicroLogix 1000 defaults to DF1 protocol and will not automatically switch to DH485 unless it it connected to an active DH485 network.

The "ordinary" USB/RS232 converter works because you are using DF1 Full Duplex protocol.

The solution ? Keep using the ordinary USB/RS232 converter for this MicroLogix 1000, unless it is connected to an active DH485 network.
