CX-One is licensed software.

You can sign up for a trial version at www.smartplatform.info

Is there anywhere I can donwload the Trial version from. The smartplatform site appears to just mail you a CD. I know that the file will be very large but it would still be quicker to download than to wait for the CD.
Thanks

Not that I am aware of... no.gif

Is that something that Omron could provide for everyone?

If a manufacturer does not offer full trial software versions freely, your only choices are to get your boss to expense a license or to contact your local Omron distributor and work with them on a special solution. If you purchase a lot of Omron controls, there might be a deal that can be arranged. I have worked with suppliers to demo a package before with a license that expires after 30-60 days. I do not believe their software was that expensive (compared to Brand A).

Plus, I do believe you will need a special Omron programming cable.

As suggested, you should check with your local Omron distributor.
They may have a copy of the trail version you can load.

I just checked, the trail version is 3 cd's, a bit over 1.3 gigabytes.
My guess is that downloading would be a real strain on bandwidth
for the servers, and a lot of time for you to download.

Hope this will help.

Good point, gtsuport. The CX-One software suite is 3 CDs and has all of the Omron programming tools in one shot (CX-Programmer => PLC, CX-Designer => HMI, CX-Motion => Servo program, as well as nearly 20 other applications).

I believe you can download syswin programming tool for free from omron ftp if that is sufficient for your needs.

hello everyone,

I recently purchased a license for the CX-one... today I received a package with a license code... I was expecting the code... and a CD or DVD to install the application! How is it processed? Am i supposed to use the key in order to download CX one from the internet? I tried to reach omron here in portugal but there was nobody available who could tell me about it today so i can only wait... can someone tell me how this works?

You should have received a DVD or 2 CDs. It is too big to download completly.

Hiya,

Yes product codes for ordering have recently been split into "Licence Sheet" and "Media" so you need at least 1 of each. The Media is only €10-20 I think just to cover production/distibution costs and is fine if you use a copy or get from your Sales Office burnt to disk but you will not find this available for download. When you get hold of your Omron Sales Rep he should know this.

I was told this is just for logistics, because the media is the same for all and can reduce the delivery time by having more stock at point of sale.

thanks Bertie,

i think something like that happened... apparently my local omron representative wasn't fully aware of this so I only got the license... they'll hopefully send me the DVD tomorrow =).

thanks once again!
