I am new to this and would like some assistance or preferably point me to some documentation. I am not affraid to read and study fo figure this out. I need move motor controls from one panel to another but still need to use the existing logic in the older panel that uses PLC 5. I will be adding the 505 to the network using a modem router. How can i set the 505 to look for a bit in the PLC5 to turn these motors on and off. Can this be done inexpensively or would it be eaiser to just put a relay in the panel with the PLC5 and pull control wires 400 feet?

What type of network are you connected?

For controlling motors, I would recommend only the hardwired method or a scanner/adapter connection using Remote I/O. Ethernet or serial links are not as well suited to real time reliable control.

You can either pull 400 feet of wire, or 400 feet of blue hose....
