For some reason I can't see the backplane, etc. I am using pcmk ver B card and the pcmk5 cable.
When I launch RSlinx and load the driver, then check out the status I am not seeing anything. I know the PLC card works, the only other thing I have done previously is run the emulator on my PLC for 5.
There is only one driver for the pcmcia card, DH+ and the DH 485. In the configuration, DH 485, RSlinx name, node 0, 9600 baud. I tried changing a baud rate, etc.
I looked through the help in the RSLinx file. The only thing that is confusing is the normal mode and run as a service.
Any thoughts anyone. The only other thing I just thought of is the antivirus program I am running in the back ground. I forgot to shut it down the other day when I was tinkering around with this.

A little more information is needed.

Are you trying to connect via DH+.

The 5/40 uses DH+.
I don't believe it uses 485.

If you are using the PCMK card be sure to change the Device type in the configuration to PCMK, it is not by default..

The configuration for a PCMK card on Data Highway 57.6K Baud should look something like this.

Hal and TechJunki are both steering you in the right direction ... the PLC-5/40 uses DH+ as its native communications mode (not DH-485) ... set the driver for DH+ and see if the PLC shows up ... if it doesn’t, then change the baud rate ... newer PLCs support various baud rates ... someone might have set yours for something other than the 57.6K default ...

plus I’ve seen this one happen before:

the PLC-5/40 has TWO mini-DIN communications ports ... USUALLY you want the one on the bottom ... the top one might not be configured as a DH+ programming port ...

good luck ...
