Anyone ever ran into this problem: And have a fix for it?

"Panelview 1400E Problem - Error in Synchronizing Channel 1.
Cause: Network Type 'Remote I/O' not installed."
Ken Moore
Couple of questions:
1. Exactly which model of 1400e do you have?
2. Is this a new application or an existing one?

I have a hunch , and the answer to #2 will help.

It's an older application. I just downloaded it from the machine earlier today (Last night for me).

I'm running Panelbuilder 1400e v5.15

I was able to open the file on a different machine at work. When I first tried to open it on my laptop, it gave some other error that I don't remember right now. This turned out to be because I didn't have the latest service pack from MS (I'm running XP Pro). WELL... After installing this, is when I get the prior mentioned error...

PS: Ken, are you using a cgi to create your sign image?

Did you download if from one panel view and then load it on to another?
Sounds like the first one used RIO, and the 2nd one uses DH+ or something else.

No... I downloaded it to my harddrive. Then opened it to see if it worked. It did. I then copied it to a usb pen drive so that I could move it over to my other laptop. When trying to open it on the second machine is when I started getting the problems. I thought it might have something to do with the download process, so I took my other laptop out to the machine and downloaded the program onto it from the PV. When I tried to open it to verify the file, I got the error I described.

Got the sign from www.danasoft.com

Well that shoots down my theory, maybe someone else has encountered this problem.
I've only dealt with the 1400e on a limited basis. I would not recommend them for future applications.

I didn't pick the panel... I'd upgrade it if I could, but to be honest, I'm not sure what kind of mess I'd be getting into there. That's the main reason I was downloading the program, so I could see how big of a pain it was. (This is the first time I've ever messed with a PV1400...)

Could be a software issue... Check out these two articles from Rockwells Web Site.

OK, I'm working now. Here's the deal as far as I can tell.

FIrst, I downloaded the program from the panelview to my computer. I couldn't open it because I had service pack 1 installed for windows XP. (This is a documented problem.) What's the fix? Install service pack 2 or contact MS for the hotfix. Well, I was in a hurry so I installed SP2.

Installing SP2 overwrote some of the settings in windows that asigns what files are opened by what program. (This resulted in the remote I/O errors).

The next step was nothing more than do a re-install of panelbuilder 1400e so that windows would not asign certain files to IE6.

From there, I was able to open the file with no problems what so ever.

PS: Thanks everyone for the help...

Glad to hear that you resolved your problem.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. But I knew someone here could help you out.
