i need help to get the Direction with a Incremental Encoder using RSLogix 500, please help me, Thankīs!
your encoder should be quadrature encoder (have both A and B channels) to tell the direction.

i see HSC:1/DIR but never change, always see 1
i connect Signal A to I:0/4, Signal B to I:0/5 and Signal Z to I:0/6 thatīs correct?

You must configure the HSC type in the function file for quadrature encoder.
Use type 6h for counter with no reset, and type 7h for counter with reset and hold.
In the latter case the input I:0/7 is the HOLD input of the HSC and cannot be used for anything else.
