Hi,
It is possible to conect the Micrologix 1200 to a US modem but any way there is a AllenBradley modem kit that is esier to make this connection and even to get a Rockwell support for it.
I hope it help you....

It's about the same. I guess it depends on what micrologix.
If you are using a 1500 series, I would recommending getting the LRP. With an LRP you get two ports. Then you can dedicate one port to the modem, and use the other port for programming.
See this article:

Hello,
your articles in MrPlc are very helpfull, but I have a problem, and you
maybe have the solution,
I want to conect a Micrologix 1200 (minidin port) to an external modem Us
Robotic, I do it with a SLC, and with Micrologix with AIC+, but I need to
do it directly, and they don't work, I hope the problem is the cable to
connect the modem, do you have any experience?
thanks a lot!!!
sorry for my english!!!

Carles,
I expect that you'll want to use either a
2711-NC21 ( 5 meters/ 16.4 feet ) or a
2711-NC22 (15 meters/49 feet)
cable to connect from the MINI-DIN direct to the modem.
(A 1761-CBL-PM02, -PM05, -PM10 cable and 9-Pin Null Modem adapter may also be used ).
The channel must be configured correctly for the modem. I have never done this, but I think your going to have some issues. I don't think you could possibly cofigure the channel suitable for both programming and modem use.
Since that's the only port, you still have to use that port to program the Micrologix as well as configure it to talk to a modem. Most cases I remember those settings aren't the same where you can plug in the modem when your done programming.
Careful if you are changing the PORT settings to modem only, you could LOCK yourself out of the PLC....yuck.
I would suggest if you can and stick with the AIC+ way, since you have already done it.
If anyone has ever done a programming port and modem setup on the SAME port, that would be interesting to hear from you now...
