Full Version: Entivity Think & Do problems with Access database

We use Entivity Think & Do for pressure testing parts. When the parts are tested Think & Do uses an SQL statement to write records to an Access database hosted on the same PC. The problem is that it doesn't always write a new record and there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason why! We can't repeat the error on demand so we can't debug it accurately. Has anyone else had problems like this and if so how did you fix it?

The next step soon is to create an MS SQL database and see if it reliably writes to that instead.

Of course this is coming from a PC programmer who's only dabbled in AB ladder logic (which is a pleasure to code in) and never touched this flowchart based junk before (Visio as a programming language? Really?!). :P

Thanks in advance for all your help!

I do not have any experience specifically with Think & Do software but I have done a number of other HMI type packages that wrote to an Access databases. If it works most of the time and only periodically does not function, I would look at the scripting that triggers the sql command to write the data to the Access database. Can you look at your date stamp and see when it is occuring is it around the same time of day? This may narrow to problem in the script.
