can anyone tell me if it possible to change the default com port settings in gx developer. when i start up gx developer and click "read from plc", the serial com setting defaults to com1, i would like to know if it is possible to change this setting and if so, how to do it

create new project, set online transfer to use COM2 and save project as COM_2.
change transfer settings to Com3 and saved project as COM_3 etc.
next time you open any of them, you will see that transfer setup is saved.

The default to use Com1 is simply because this is the first COM port.

If your PC does not have Com1 (maybe your port is Com4 or whatever), then
map missing Com1 to something else (Com22 or whatever),
and map the port you actually use as Com1.

Note that your computer does have real Com1 (it is part of chipset and this is why
operating system can find it) - it is just that manufacturer chose not to instal connector and wire it.
