I am trying to get a Powerflex 40P running. I removed the enable and am using terminal 1 as an enable input. We are using devicenet to send it commands. I see that is working since bit 10 is on. Everything is enabled and the drive is ready. I issue the start command and get nothing from the drive. The run light does not come on and it still reads 000 on the display. Any advice???

Can you specify what you have tied to the control terminals. It sounds like you just have the terminal 1 input tied (either high or low) to the appropriate enable voltage (possibly through a contact? - which is fine).

In the setup you must specify that the control is coming from the communication, not from the front panel or from a terminal (P036). You may also be controlling the frequency from the communication which you must specify also (P038).Make sure the drive is stoped when making these parameter changes. As a general practice we cycle all power after these types of parameter changes.

correct I have the enable the way you said.

I have P36 set to comm port
I have P38 set to 4 which I think should be a 5 ?
I am using the bits 12,13,14 to select the preset speed in parameters A071,A072,A073.

Yes - set P38 to '5' for the comm port. Make sure not to turn on the start bit until the ready bit is on. Only then make the transition from off to on.

Edit - I now see that comms (5) is the default setting for P38, interesting.

That helped so that now the run light comes on but the frequency on the display stays 000?

I don't have the MODBUS documentation for the PF40P. We always write the frequency directly. Set the speed control back to '4' and reset. Then try the speed pre-selection in the control word.

All set and thanks for the help
