Hello,

What are the differences between these two software packages?

9324-RL0100ENE 1 RSLogix 500 Starter (English) CD-ROM
9324-RL0100ENF 1 RSLogix 500 Starter Concurrent Edition

The second one is about $100.00 more.

Thanks,

Mark

The second package allow for concurrent activations with Factory talk. Meaning the license can move from PC to PC "seamlessly".

Note : "Seamlessly" assumes you believe the RA propoganda.

The first one is "node locked". That means that it is "locked" to a serial number some place in a given PC. It can be locked to the hard drive, to a NIC card, or to a special USB stick that Rockwell sells. With the USB version, you can physically move the license from one PC to another by moving the memory stick from one to another.

The second one is "concurrent". This means that you install the license on a network server and then install the software everywhere you need it. When you need the license, it automatically requests it (first come, first serve) from the server. Alternatively, you can "borrow" and "return" the license from the server if you need an offline version for a few days (after 90 days, the borrowed license expires and the server recovers it).
