There seems to be a persistent problem with bitmap colors in System version 8.10.
I have some bitmap icons in my projects. The colors were always displayed correctly both in CXD as in the target hardware.
However, after updating 3 NS5-V2 terminals to system version 8.10, I noticed my bitmap icon colors are incorrectly displayed in the target hardware. In CX-Designer the colors are displayed correctly.

Before update to 8.10:

After update to 8.10:

Unfortunately I don't have a camera here right now so had to use my phone but I think you can see what I mean.

After I re-imported an existing bitmap icon in CXD, (CXD automatically converts 24bit to 16bit color), the colors were now displayed correctly.
However, importing all bitmap icons by copying the originals to the CXD project folder in explorer does not work and all bitmaps colors are wrong again.
So it seems the only solution now is to re-import every bitmap individually....

how many colour bitmaps are they?

I believe up to 16 bit.

Well my colleague ran into this as well with a different laptop and NS terminal so we investigated a little more.
It seems that:

1. It is necessary to re-import the original bitmap graphic after converting a project to system version 8.
2. All necessary modifications to the bitmap using paint should be done prior to importing the bitmap. If the bitmap is edited in paint (e.g. resize) using the edit button in the object properties and then saved (overwrite), the colors are set wrong again!

The problem has been recognised by Omron and will be fixed in one of the next CX-Designer udates.

Questions on Version of CX Designer.

1. Has the BMP color issue been resolved with the latest CX Designer upadate? I currently have V7.0 installed on my NS screen and would like to upgrade to 8.*. CX Designer version is latest update V3.10.

2. It is not clear to me [or I cannot find the relevant section in the manual] exactly how the Version update level and the Version in CX-Designer work together. For example CX Designer project is set for V7.0 and the installed version on the NS screen is V7.0. Does this mean that all Version prior to V7.0 will run correctly?
OR must the CX Designer project Version EXACTLY match the Update/Recover Version installed on the NS screen?

3. Was trying to use a CF card to simultaneously update the Version AND download a new *.IPP application.
Could not get this to work and had to install Version and Application separately.
Tried placing the *.IPP application in one of the BANK folders of the Version update, but still did not work.

Can anyone describe or point me to the correct method for loading a version update AND *.IPP application at the same time using a CF card.

CONFUSED !!

I have yet to test this, I was told it would be fixed on the next update round so good chance it is by now. I will try to test tomorrow and get back with the results.

As far as I know the program you create in CXD has to be set for the same or older system version that is loaded in the screen, in other words the system version installed in the screen is downwards compatible with the system version which is set in CXD. So a terminal with system version V7 should take a program with V6, V5 etc.

Pretty sure this is not possible, the progam you transfer to the CF card wil be stored in BANK1/2/3/4, and any of these folders is already used by the system version files.

I always have 2 folders on my CF card, one named "SV" and one named "CXD".
In the "SV" folder I always have the latest system version files and folders ready to be copied to the root of the CF. During normal program transfer the CXD folder is empty, only if I need to update the system version I move the BANK1 with the *.ipp file in the CXD folder and take out the SV folder contents to the root of the card.
