Was the serial port connected to anything? Is it possible the port is configured for DH485 protocol or ASCII or something other then DF1? Do you have the offline file to check its port configuration?
What cable are you using? What version of RSLinx do you have?

Grab a paper clip and your meter and ohm out the pins of the cable just to make sure the cable is working fine. If you ever find a bad serial or DF1 cable, please cut it before tossing it in the trash. I have found, more than once, that someone fished a bad cable out of the trash.

If your cable is good, and your PC serial port settings are correct, then try using HyperTerminal to listen to the port comms.

If HyperTerm shows some periodic garbage, most likely the com port and cable are doing their thing. You can make a serial loopback plug/cable and download an application to test the serial port.

Are you trying to AutoConfig the DF1 driver in RSLinx?
HiGhVoLtAgEgUrU
okey here is deal..It opened my other program fine. But evertime I open 1st program it doesnt want to do it. but I had other small code writeen for some other application, that one works fine. I'm able to download and run it fine. You guys think it's some in the config. i have done wrong?
TWControls
Make sure the driver listed under Comms > System Comms is the same on both programs.

Also, what version of RsLinx Lite are you running?

Something I recently found out about ML 1100...you can flash the firmware up to Series B even if it's a Series A!
HiGhVoLtAgEgUrU
How do I flash it. I'm kinda new to PLC's. I"m sure you guys have explain this question to others about million times already. I"m very greatful for the help I get here. If it wasnt' for this site, I would have lost interest for PLCs.
