Hi, I have started a new job where we have a number of GE-PLCs. 90-70 programmed with Logic master, 90-30 programmed with Versapro, Vesamax, Koyo logic 30, Quick Panel programmed with unknown. From a little reading here, it seems that these software packages are limited to certain CPU's. I feel i will drown in the ocean of information.
Is there any site, or document that might help me to get up to speed on which series and cpu requires which software. Where to start? Please Help?

I recommend putting a list together with every piece of hardware that you will need to troubleshoot or program and then get with your GE Fanuc rep or software supplier. Right now you should be able to get the "right" Proficy Machine Edition software to cover all but the very old hardware (Koyo). The trick is to purchase just what you need, there are a lot of options and that you should look at, including the age (version) of each CPU.

I'm not aware of any single document that answers all of your questions, but I can try to shed some light on things.

Logicmaster is GE Fanuc's old DOS software for programming the Series 90-30 and 90-70 PLCs. Logicmaster files can be imported into The current programming software which is called Proficy Machine Edition.

VersaPro software was an intermediate step between Logicmaster and Proficy Machine Edition. VersaPro files can be converted to Proficy Machine Edition. VersaMax is not software. It refers to a line of I/O products and PLCs that uses the same function set as the 90-30 with a couple of additonal instructions. The current GE Fanuc line of micro PLCs is called VersaMax Micro. VersaMax I/O modules are compatible with your 90-30 and 90-70 PLCs as long as you have the appropriate network interface module in the PLC. The network could be GE's Genius, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet or others.

Automation Direct's software, called Direct Soft is most likely for your older GE Series One PLCs. Those are identical to the product line that Automation Direct now calls the DL305.

The Quick Panels were probably programmed with a software package called Quick Designer.
