Anyone find a simple answer to the question Why do I get "Failed to swap in Windows 2000 Pic Driver" when I try to setup a pic/aic driver (which I need for I'm connecting to a SLC 5/03 with an AIC module), ? I just started having this problem about a week ago (on my laptop). I've connected many times before this and no problem. I took my desktop unit out on the floor and it connected just fine. I've been in every forum and Rockwells knowledge base, removed my com1 port (for I have a "real" serial port), removed registry entries per Tech. Support (rockwell) but no go. As I've said, this problem just happened. I've not installed anything recently, no hardware mod's. ??? Got me stumped. Wondering if I may have to just have our IT person to re-image the entire drive. Tried to go back and do a system restore, but couldn't go back far enough. Basically something is just fighting the Pic/Aic driver and not allowing it be added or better said "overwrite" my com1. Any ideas would be more than welcome for I am out of options.
Thanx

A couple of things to look at (see link below)
http://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/cgi...amp;p_topview=1

Also, is the PIC driver the ONLY driver configured. If not make it so.
Make sure RSLinx is not running as a service.

You also might try to flush RSLinx see text file below.( Delete all drivers then delete harmony files.)

Mickey,
Thank you for the input but I've already "flushed" and many times. I'm still thinking because it worked before that something else is happening. Just can't find it yet. I had talked to the Rockwell Tech support about the harmony prg. deleting in the registry. Was hoping that would be the fix. No luck yet. Still plugging away but it's been about, well, many hours and no luck.
Thanks again.

If you have Linx Enterprise and Linx Classic present, Linx Enterprise has a bad habit of not going away and it will attach to all your hardware like some sort of sticky tar that just won't let go easily.
MDH
No enterprise, but I've gone from 2.42 to 2.53, 2.54 classic to 2.54OEM. Think I might've overloaded? Going to check the reg for erronious rslinx's... Spending much to much time on this and no time on the main programming that I really need to get done. Rather irritating but what to do.
Appreciate the feedback and I hate tar personally...

Whoops,
I actually have RsLogix 5000 Enterprise installed (never use it).... Perhaps that may have something to do with this problem... ? hmmm. Guess I'll uninstall and find out.
Thanx again.
The irony is that my desktop works just fine with both software packages. Strange.
