Dear all,

I have this Failed to load system registry, Please use Regedit when i clicked on Runtime.

Anyone encountered this before? If not, please advise me. I am running the application on Windows Vista Ultimate.

THanks.!

Hiya Landak,

Welcome to the Forum thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Hope you find it good!

I've seen the answer to this on Omron's own FAQ page:
Omron Technical Support

and then lookup [CX-Supervisor] and then "How Do I use CX-Supervisor as a user with limited permissions?"

Does that solve it?

Regards,
Bertie

Although I got the message "failed to update..." instead of "failed to load...", it seems it is the same problem as described in this topic. Therefore the same solution as above should work!

Would like to know how it works out!
tashinz
so, landak, did you solve the problem? It seems i have the same problem, the message is failed to load the system registry.
cx-supervisor 2.1, and vista bussines.

I have had the same problem on a recent install, the customer had supplied a PC with Vista Home Basic. After trying to get it to work unsuccessfully, I found that Home Basic was not on the list of OS that CX-S could run on.

I initially had the error mentioned above, but can get around this by right-clicking and running as an administrator, but then this is still very flakey.

What seems to happen, is that when I attempt to open a project in developer or runtime, the application just seems to crash, for no apparent reason.

Am I chasing a dead duck here trying to get this to work? What could be stopping it running/crashing on Vista Home Basic?

The customer had an old Win2000 machine, put it on this and it worked within 5 minutes...

Thanks for confirming how you resolved landaks original problem and that this error is just about User Privileges

This sounds like a new issue and new thread. Its worth trying with the installed demos to see if any of them crash or if its just your application. Of course for ANY crash you should be reporting to your Omron rep - I know (first hand) they have some good diagnostic tools to install which identifies the crash origin and should quickly help you identify the cause. I would suggest this route to you...

Hi Bertie,
Yep, but this was only a partial resolve, my other issue is still there.

I will try running one of the Demos, I think it did run by memory when I first loaded it. I even started trying to build the app from scratch (is very small), and still no joy.
I have emailed our Omron rep, I think they may still be away until next week.

I did start this in a new thread to try and give it some visibility, but cannot seem to find it anymore shrug.gif

Hi Pim,

I thought as much, but interesting the PM did not come through, was it via the forum or to an external email address?

Aha! I thought as much because sent it to you and a CC to Tashinz, but just Tashinz showed up in the message tracker. I thought this was because of the CC but I'll resend it to you.

I have just managed to find a chance to power up this PC and attempt to run again. I can open & run the Demo apps included, as well as modify them.

I then proceed to create a new application, which succeeds, when I attempt to save the current page, or add a new page, CX-Supervisor Developer crashes.

The Project Folder is created, and I can run the project file from this folder, I get the cx-server error, access is denied.

As soon as I attempt to modify or open anything within the app, the developer crashes.

Is there anything else I can do/anywhere I can look to have a look. Local support have gone a bit quiet lately, quoting that they have had no problems with Vista, they not sure about home basic though?

Dear Berti,

I have tried out to change the user control rights on the stated registry file. However, the problem still exist. I am not so sure if I have changed it.

The changing of the administrator seems not as straight forward as I first thought.

I been struggling with it for almost months.

Sigh...

I have just commissioned one cx-supervisor me application, but on vista pro. had several problems, but it works now, as it works on windows xp. first problem was, when scada is started, it shows the stupid window boundary that windows in vista have (wide and ugly) and it cuts parts of scada screen. the problem is solved buy turning off the visual themes service and using classic window style.
another problem was using activeX controls. I used check box. after a lot of wasted time (it's not working on click properly - i just want to set a bit and to read the state of that bit, so i used mouse down and mouse up actions) it is all working on windows xp. since the commissioning pc is on vista, when deployed, application was crashing every time the page with activeX is opened. solved it by removing activeX and using drawing objects like rectangular and animation actions of it.
one thing is coming to my mind regarding problem in this thread. since Administrator account is disabled by default in vista (there is only one real admin in vista - user Administrator, other users e.g. tashinz member of administrator group don't have same authorities as Administrator) maybe this Administrator should be enabled and scada should be run on this account.
but again, don't see why it's working od vista pro and not on vista home.

Dear tashinz,

So you are working on Vista Pro? I am working on Vista Home Basic and Premium. Both gave me that problem of "Failed to load in system registry"

I am wondering if any other users encountering the same problem and manage to solve it.
Berti Baker
Hi,

I had this problem too. There is the default answer about setting the registry key permissions if you're not an administrator...

But then I found this was required too:
Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.
Click Turn User Account Control off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Let us all know if that resolves it.

i think it is said before. in my case, in one project before, the problem of not loading registry message is solved by disabling uac and applying administrator security on all registry keys associated with cx-supervisor.

The above solved all the problem I had with Vista Home Premium. Splendid.

I am going to try out with Vista Home Basic and see its performance.

Thanks Berti & Tashinz
