I've got a few applications that need a simple relay closure based off of a setpoint on a 4-20mA input. I don't really want a PLC just to read an analog input and turn on a relay.

I hunted through the Phoenix modules, sure that they would have something, but didn't find one.

Does anyone know of a module or a simple way to do this?

How about this?

That's exactly what I'm looking for Paul.

Thanks!

I use the CPA from Moore industries alot. I like the fact that they are configured with a PC, you have lots of options, deadband, high alarm, low alarm etc..... you pick. Plus they also supply loop power for the instruments.

Weidmuller also have a few different types of process relays:

Thanks everyone. I knew these things had to exist thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

If Zone 2 is close to US class 1 Div 2, where nonincendive devices are authorized, there won't be such an animal.
The restrictions for electronics for zone 2 is that they not have any relay contacts which are arcing, sparking devices. Solid state switches can pass, but not electromechanical contacts.

For the link above, there is an optional ExP field enclosure.

You might want to check the specs on the devices. Zone 2, or C1,D2 would be possible if the device uses hermetically sealed contacts.

Weidmuller makes a whole line of these type devices, signal converters and relays.
DanW
I stand corrected. Mr. White is certainly correct that hermetically sealed electromechanical relays qualify for US Class 1 Div 2 hazardous areas. I'd forgotten about the pressure switches I've used several times that were so constructed.

Yeah Dan - problem is that none of the devices listed here have hermetically sealed contacts. I guess even if they did they may opt for not going for the certification. Did a quick search and couldnt find one. So maybe we are both right...Its possible just not available.
