Hello:

I haven't work before with the 1761-NET-ENI module and I have several doubts about it. I want to make a little DH-485 network and if runs my plan is to connect also a 1747 AIC to conect a 5/03 PLC over the network

I have two 1761 modules conected, I connected a panel view 550 (2711-T5A16L1) to a 1761-NET-ENI on the 8 mini din conector , and also I conected a micrologix 1000 to the other 1761_NET-ENI on the 8 mini din conector.

If I conect my laptop to DB9 port on ENI module where I conected the panel view I can see the panel view with rslinx using the DF1 serial protocol but I can't see the micrologix, I configured the micrologix port on RSlogix500 to use DH-485.

My question is how can I see the micrologix on that network? I tried to configure the 1747-PIC/AIC + driver but I got an error message: FATAL ERROR ON PIC and I can't comunicate my laptop runs windows XP.

am I doing something wrong?

Any help will be apreciated

Regards

Clarification Question.

1761-NET-ENI is a DF1/DH485 to Ethernet Conversion unit.

1761-NET-AIC and 1761-NET-AIC+ is a DH485 networking device for use with SLCs, Micros and Panelviews.

What are you using?

have you checked the User manuals at AB.com and wired them correctly?

Bobfoot,
I don't believe the 1761-NET-ENI supports DH485 it s only a DF1 to Ethernet device.

With the PV (which has DF1 protocol per cat no. provided) and the ML1000 (port configured for DF1) both connected to
there own ENI then connected to a ethernet switch (hub) your PC could then see both using your PC's ethernet port and a ethernet driver in RSLinx.
If you want to create a DH485 network you will have to change your PV to one that supports DH485 protocol.
You will also need a PC with a real serial port to use the PIC/AIC driver. or buy a 1747-UIC (USB to DH485 converter)

Hello:

Sorry I messed up the model numbers....

I have two 1761-NET-AIC modules, one has a panel view 550 conected and the second one a micrologix 1000

The first problem was that after I configured the 1747 PIC / AIC driver I got an error message, I had service pack 3 on my laptop so I unistalled that and install service pack 2 as AB is not supporting the AIC driver for pack 3.

Now if I connect my laptop with the cable 1747-CP3 on the NET-AIC where the micrologix is conected I can see it on rslinx but I can't see the panel view , or if conect on the NET AIC where the panel view is conected with the same cable I can't see connected the panel view and the micrologix

Any suggestions?

As an adition I took as reference the example on page 25 of 1761 NET AIC manual where there is a panel view 550 conected on the RS-232 port to a NET AIC module, but I guess as you mentioned the panel view must have DH-485 protocol to comunicate.

For example if I get some NET ENI's to connect the panel view and micrologix over ethernet how can I configure both so the micrologix can control the panel view?

My post above gave you the manual for the 1761-NET-ENI. See link below for the 1761-NET-AIC manual.

The cable between your PC and the ML1000 needs to be a null modem cable ( see manual for part no.)
The cable between your PC and your panelview needs be a straight thru cable. This would also apply to the AIC's if installed. Same cables.
If the ML1000 and the Panelview are in the same cabinet then the AIC's are not needed. Connect the ML1000 to the PV with a straight thru cable.
