Hi Guys,

I have recently changed jobs and have gotten back into programming custom assembly and packaging equipment.

I am also re-familiarising myself the Logix 5000 software package and I see alot of emphasis on the Phase Manager tool which is very new to me.

I would love to chat/listen to anyone using Phase Manager in packaging and/or custom assembly machines.
I see some documentation regarding the use of Phase Manager in Batch Manufacturing and also alot of documentation regarding the S88 Standards in Batch Manufacturing however there is very little to nothing on the use of either Phase Manager or S88 in continuous packaging style automation.

I have a couple of pending projects and I am really keen to understand the possibilites of Phase Manager and its potential in packaging machinery.

If anyone is using it already I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and comments.

Cheers
Gerry
I doubt if you'll find many, if any, using it outside of batching systems. In those systems, if you are using RSBatch or RSBizware Batch or whatever it's called these days, then the phase manager option is useful.

For anything else, in my opinion, it's like pounding a square peg into a round hole.

If you get a chance to talk with one of the Rockwell OEM machinery group programmers, they're going to be able to tell you the most. I have several OEM customers using PhaseManager to build machines that run according to the PackML modeling language, but I'm not deeply enough involved in their programs (not to mention the stack of nondisclosure agreements.....) to explain how they do it.

Thanks for your feedback Ken. I certainly wouldn't ask you or anyone to compromise the confidentiality of their customers so I appreciate your position.

In general terms though are you receiving positive feedback regarding Phase Manager and PackML?? Inevitably I am going to take it on and see how it goes but it would be nice to know if it is being accepted favourably or not by industry.

How would I get intouch with the "Rockwell OEM machinery group programmers"
