I need to put a SLC 5/04 on an existing SCADA network. The DF1 port is presently occupied with an HMI. I have to interface to the DH+ port. Problem is my existing network is configured for 19200 N81 serial (DF1). What are my options for this interface? I would imagine some type of protocol converter ???? Thanks in advance.
I have successfully used the one from Catia (3 port DF-1 splitter). I think it's called an arbitrator.
I have also used Digi One's as well. Their IAP's have 2 serial ports and an Ethernet port and can freely mix and match. The advantage here is that you can go straight to Ethernet, leave yourself with an open port (say for programming), and STILL have your HMI on the DF-1 port.
The Allen Bradley solution if you can find one is a KF-2. This is a DH+ / RS-232 (DF-1) protocol converter. Works pretty well overall.
In my plant I'm down to just a few machines left before I can go DH+ free.
