Hello

I have an up and coming project where i need to control from a ML1100 PLC 20x Powerflex 4M drives.

My intial option is to use the Modbus protocol to connect to each drive to access drive parameters and write run commands etc, to prevent >100m of multicore cables being installed.

Q1.Has anyone experienced a quantity of >20 drives on a modbus network?,
each drive is mounted out in the field with a maximum comms cable length of 50m

Q2.Is the modbus network going to be robust if all installation conditions are met?

Any feedback will be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi

I have done a similar job using DeviceNet, 6 AB Powerflex drives and 6 Siemens VSD. It works fine.
I am not too sure for modbus, but it will work, as far as, you have ur network well balanced with the number of nodes.
Y don't u go for DeviceNet? I think it is more simple to program and monitor via RsNetworx.

Thanks
