For those of you interested, the Modbus TCP client driver seems to be released as an official download through the European download center. For free!
Thank you Omron for answering my prayers thumbsupsmileyanim.gif notworthy.gif

The Omron MODBUS TCP control allows easy communication with MODBUS devices over TCP networks. The control is designed to work well with existing Omron graphical products such as CX-Supervisor and CX-Server Lite. It also offers a simple scripting interface, allowing communication from languages such as Visual Basic and C#.

The control supports the windows 2000 and windows XP operating systems.

I believe it is only supported by CX-Supervisor V2 installations.
I tested it in CXS V2 and it works quite easy, once installed it will be available under the OPC/Other I/O attributes of the I/O point. If you choose to add a server you can then select Omron Modbus TCP Control and configure a Modbus server to connect to. You can define multipe servers with unique IP and port adress, and for every server create groups and items within. I believe it is even possible to use arrays.

Available adressing formats:
  • Coils
  • Discrete inputs
  • Holding registers
  • Input registers
I am not sure what the performance of this driver is compared to an OPC server like Kepware, but it certainly is convenient when you need to just communicatie a few adresses with your Modbus TCP server.

Hi,
you posted ModbusTCP is available for download in Europe's download centre.

I have Cx-One v1.0 registred in download center and seems I have no possibility to download this driver.
Do I have to be registered to any other product for this (ie CX_Supervisor)?

Yes, I forgot to mention it is only available to registered CXS V2.0 users.

Hi PdL,

any experience using cx-supervisor modbus/tcp driver? in real life?
i have one application now, have to connect various flow meters using modbus. several flow meters are connected to modbus-tcp/ip converter which is connected to factory switch. there is several switches in factory with the same configuration as I described. on the top should be cx-supervisor.
we are now considering whether to use modbus tcp driver for cx-s or to use kepware opc (which has modbus tcp driver) and connect cx-s to kepware.
testing in office here went well for cx-s modbus tcp driver. wonder how it will be functioning in factory. application is simple, flow meters measure fuel oil flow in various places. data should be stored in ms access (using cx-s), little visualization, and then to make some reports.

so, any experience?

Dear all,

I would like to ask if any has even try out the modbus tcp driver?

Can provide me the step to step instruction on how to setup the driver? I have difficulty of understanding how to setup the driver.

Best regards,

PdL
I don't have the time right now to make a step to step setup, but the procedure of adding tags etc is a lot like OPC configurations.
Here are some comments I made after testing the driver.
In short, it works but IMO is not suitable for a lot of tags.
