I purchased a 1756-Enet/ENI serial to ethernet converter module, however I cannot get Linx to show the Micro1000 processor. I can use RSWho and see the converter, however I cannot see the processor. Any thoughts? wacko.gif

I have this problem all the time with RS Linx Enterprise, but Enterprise allows me to manually configure it. And you select the ENI, then under it Micrologix or SLC or whatever you have attached to the ENI...

In RS Linx Classic, I don't think you can manually do the same...And I remember having this problem once when I did a ML1500 system with an ENI that I wanted to get data into the PLC from a Cognex camera. But man for the life of me I can't remember what it was I did...

I know this post doesn't help you, but maybe it might spark some things for you to try.

I just know in RS Linx Enterprise if the ICON is an ENI module, I am not getting or communicating with the device attached. The ICON in RS Linx Enterprise needs to be the ICON of the device. In my case right now I have a SLC 5/-03 attached, so I see an ICON of a SLC 5/-03 instead of the ENI icon. Sometimes the comms drop out to the SLC 5/-03 then when I check the RS Linx Enterprise configuration I see the ICON went back to the ENI ICON, I know it's not right, I remove the ICON, then create a link to the SLC 5/03 manually. I have to do this every now and then.

Bottom line, the ENI module is so squirrelly in my opinion...even when I was trying to communicate through it for the Cognex vision application, there are connection limits, I think it was 6 connections max.

The device is the 1761-NET-ENI.

RSLinx shows the -ENI device type when the serial side is not properly connected to the controller. You need to check the configuration of the -ENI and the MicroLogix 1000 and be certain that they match.

It is also possible that RSLinx will show the -ENI device type when they -ENI's Electronic Data Sheet is not installed.

Search the A-B EDS library:

http://www.ab.com/networks/eds

Select the Network Type as EtherNet/IP and the Catalog Number as "1761". The EDS files for the 1761-NET-ENI Series A, B, and C/D will be found. Download all three to a storage folder (not \RSCommon\EDS) and use the RSLinx Hardware Installation Tool (Rockwell Software -> RSLinx -> Tools) to register the files.

I have a micro with an ENI and in RSLinx only the ENI shows, but when I open communications in Logix 500 select the ENI and go online I go right to my processor.

Ethernet is such a wonderful thing..........WHEN it works!!!!! disgust.gif

That was it....I couldn't remember what was wrong when I had a ML1500 and an ENI. But that was it. I didn't have the right EDS file. Mr Roach jogged my memory.....

That was my problem in my application above. EDS update fixed me up.
