Hi folks,
Maybe you can relate to this: I was given an a project that has been on the backburner every since the person who started it left our company.
It is a small RSView32 application running off a laptop connected to Logix5561 PLC. They guy did a good job on what he got done, the problem is I don't know what he finished on what part!
Now my question (Plea?)
I think I have got the RSView and the PLC talking ( at least according to the tag monitor )
But now when I go to run project in RSView32, I get nada!
A check of the DDE/OPC Communications Event Log in RSLINX Gateway says:
"CIP Messaging error: No Buffer Memory Available"
I researched this all over the net and am unable to figure out exactly what is wrong!
Your kind wisdom would be appreciated!

It sounds to me like the controller's communication buffers are being overloaded. In my experience, large numbers of MSG instructions being executed by the controller or targeted at the controller are often the culprit.
Describe more about your system.
How are you connected between RSView32 and the Logix controller ? (Ethernet, Controlnet, DH+, RS232).
Are you using a Direct Driver or OPC connection between RSView32 and RSLinx ? I suspect it's OPC, from what you described.
Is the controller doing a lot of messaging ? Are a lot of messages targeted to this controller ?
The RSLogix 5000 Task Monitor is a good way to examine how hard the controller is working on communications and networking. It comes on the RSLogix 5000 CD as a free utility.
This may be a troubleshooting project you want to take up with Rockwell Automation Technical Support.
