There is a helicopter firefighting company near where I work and I believe they were using a ControlLogix for flight controls in a Sikorsky CH-54 Skycrane. Last I heard they were going through FFA proving and testing. Haven't heard or talked to the guy in about a year.

Was it redundant? or a Safety PLC? You would think they would at least have to do that, unless it was controlling a function completely unrelated to the flight controls

I thought they were using it for flight controls of some sort. Maybe it takes control while filling the water tank or something? I will try to look him up when I get back from vacation and get some more information. I was amazed the first time I heard about it.
