I have an HMI to do with Omron and Allen-Bradley plc.
I would like to use CX-Supervisor, but I'm not able to get data from AB.

I have RS Linx installed and I can get data from AB in Excel, but not in CX-Supervisor.

In CX-Supervisor, I created a point from DDE
Server Name: RSLinx
Topic Name: "project name in RSLinx" (same as Excel)
Adress Name: "adress of the point" (same as Excel)
Array size: 1

Should I be able to get data from AB and how?

Thank you.

Post screens of your point configuration, comms control etc. That will tell us more than these few details.

Ouch - DDE? I wouldn't touch this for reliable long term use.

Does RX-Linx have an OPC Server? I know CX-Supervisor works as a OPC DA client. This would be a better method for getting data.

Not sure which AB PLC you are using?
The NT series screens are available with AB drivers for direct communication from HMI to PLC.
You won't need to mess with and OPC interface or CX-Supervisor.

I don't use a NT screen between CX-Supervisor and the plc.
I have a pc with HMI with 2 connections
1- Omron plc with NT screen with a radio modem
2- AB plc with a 56k modem

We found the answer in a previous post and it works

We tried with RS Linx and OPC interface and it works fine.

Thank you

I 'm not sure my suggestion but i had tested other plc , it ok.

1. you would to have opc server of ab.plc

2. if you have not opc server ab , can use kepware opc server( you can find it on internet and crack)

3.run opc server ab or kepware after run kepware you can add chanel and device ( during select chanal and device you have to set type and comm of plc.

4. after you select chanel and device successful , you can add new item wheen you click add item , you can see method config point example io area , memory area.

5.back to cx-supervisor , you can add point for ab plc by select dde or opc other.

6. after you click select opc comm. from item list you will see kepware opc server or ab.opc server

7. you need to set name group and item , that the same name on opc server

8.I test my method by used cx-supervisor with unitronic plc , siemens s5 and omron . It can work very well .No problem

good luck for you
