Hi,
I have a panelview plus 400, a micro 1100 and the most recent software version (Rslogix & RS view).....and no I don't have RStrend. I use Ethernet comm.

I want to log a trace ( duration = 2 min) of compoment on a machine. I think a trend in the HMI is a good way to do it but I have few problem:

1- I want to be able to change screen during the log. If I leave the trend screen, the trend is cleared when I return to the trend screen.....and I lost all previous data! angry.gif

2- When I finish to log, the time base continue to run and I don't know how to stop them thru the plc. So after 2 min. I lost everything. ranting.gif I would like to start and stop the time base of the X axis from the plc but I can't found how.

thanks for read me!

I think I found a way to do it;

I use data log (started at power up) for pen 1 and pen 2.
I select XY trend type, pen 2 is used for X axis

Everything work fine, trend running when panelview is on other screen.

I have only a little to do for finish the job.....I want to erase datalog file from PLC????????

thanks

You've got it: the Trend object only logs while it's visible unless you have configured a Data Log object to hold the data in the background.

Just limit the size of the datalog file, and it will write over itself after a number of records. There's no harm in keeping the datalog running all the time as long as it's not a gigantic file.
