I have a WinBook Laptop running Windows2000 Pro SP4, that we use to program our Allen Bradley PLC's. I needed to access a network printer so I connected the computer to our network and set up a local area connection to the printer. All was well until I disconnected the network. Now my RsLogix 500 English CP7 will not run unless I am connected to the network. I get an error "Copy protection license for the application could not be acquired: Error 2. Since I don't have network access out i the plant I am screwed unless I can correct this mess. Any takers ?? argue1.gif

One of two things happened. Either you corrupted your license, or you moved it somewhere. You are currently using a license stored on network drive somewhere.

Use the evmove/evreset commands to figure out where your licenses are or aren't and fix them.

I tried that. I am only loged on to one network drive and EVMOVE didn't find it there. I searched the entrie network for EVRIS.SYS but couldn't find that either. even the 386swap file is missing from the rockwell directory. I can't imagine where, or how this happened. I wonder if they would give me a reset code ?

If you are in support then go to the Rockwell Automation website and reset your master disk. You're entitled to one reset per year. Also try placing the master disk without any activation in the floppy drive. This should allow logix to run.

If you call in to the support desk for license issues they will help you through the situation even if you have already reset the disk within 12 months. I had a hard drive crash three times in about 2 months. I lost most everything the first two times. After that I backed up to a zip disk. Rockwell was very understanding of the problem.

Here's a real kick in the pants.. According to Rockwell Support my "Master Disk" was switched to Factory Talk October of last year. They couldn't reset this disk because we are not even supposed to have it. I have to locate the original Factory Talk activation envelope with the original product id before they can resolve this. I think the person I replaced may have taken this information with him when he quit... oops.gif

Time to lean heavily on your distributor! You'll have better luck if you're more then the occasional customer.
