Have read the post on this site as well as another that deal with pulling data from PLC's, but have a question after a meeting I was in today.

We have some slc 505 plcs, as well as some omron, siemens etc.

Our new boss is going to purchase Kepware and this will be running on a server in the plants in Mexico, china, etc.
What we are trying to figure out is what is the best approach to be able for a VP here in the US to be able to take his pc at his desk, and using Internet Explorer be able to access information such as run time, products per minute etc.
The ab plc's are web enabled, but you get very limited info.

A rep from Iconics is coming in next week to present Iconics.

has anyone else did this, and would like to share some info

Thanks

Actually, they want the info to appear to them like a normal web page, instead of a excel data sheet.

Hope this makes sense

Info for the boss in a browser where he can't screw something up...

Sounds like a job for RS Bizware.

As much as I hate to say it, you might want to talk with someone in your IT department. I know IT at my company is NOT an asset, but there may be some long ranch plan in place to install an MES (Manufacturing Execution System). It would help in the long run if your current solution fits into the long range plans.

Several of my Company sites are well ahead of mine, but what we're doing is installing plant wide historians as phase I, tying all the various process PLC's and DCS's into one huge historian that sits on the Process control network, then goes through a firewall to the business LAN. Once it's installed and configured the boss can view near time data via the historian. Since it's accessible through the business LAN anyone on the WAN with the proper credentials can view the historical data.

Phase II is when the MES is installed (MES can be considered middle-ware) the boss can have his own web page with process data from numerous sources, SAP data and other data, all in one page. It's a management utopia, you can see Plant A vs. Plant B vs. Plant C all at once, then fire off nasty emails telling Plant B to get with the program because they are less productive than Plants A & C. Never mind that they had a power outage or local holiday.

Be very very careful, Big Boss Brother is watching...................
