Signal ground included on cs1w-cn118?

2 posts in this topic

Howdy to the Omron moderators: I need help clarifying the difference betweeb the CS1W-CN118 and the CN226. Realistically, when would I recommend using the CN118 over the CN226? Rumor has it that the CN118 does not have a built-in signal ground, which could be necessary to communicate to Omron programming packages. Is this true? Many regards from Elaine in Dallas

The issue is not whether the CN118 has a signal ground but rather which pin is designated as signal ground. The purpose of the CN226 is to provide a continuous cable from the peripheral port to the computer 9 pin AT port. (Signal ground appears on pin 5.) The purpose of the CN118 is to convert the peripheral port into exactly the same pin out as the CPU RS232 port. (Signal ground appears on Pin 9 just as it does on the CPU RS232 port.) To connect this converted port to the computerr 9 pin AT port, one uses the traditional C200HS-CN220-EU cable as if it were connected directly to the CPU RS232 port. See attached Japanese drwaings for wiring and construction for both cables. CS1W_CN118_CN226.zip
