Having Trouble downloading

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys, I have an RS Logix 5561 controller new to be install and it will be going into a redundant system. However, It will not dump the program into this control. It comes up with an error "the project has redundancy enabled. Redundancy is only supported in controller revision where the minor revision is .50 or higher" Can I turn off the redundancy to get this program in or upgrade the firmware to get this in to test it?

Yes; you will need to load firmware into the controller that supports the Redundancy release you are using. Every module in a ControlLogix Redundancy system needs to be at a specific release. Usually you download a whole Redundancy bundle that has the firmware, the release notes, the appropriate Redundancy Module Configuration Utility and the ControlFlash kit that supports that release. If you're just loading up one controller to send to somebody, you need to determine exactly which revision they are using, and load that firmware before loading your user program. The controller will accept the firmware and the user program even though it's not installed in a Redundancy chassis yet.

Version 16.21 is an ordinary non-Redundant firmware release for the 1756-L61. You need to load one of the Redundant firmware revisions into the controller. There are actually several that will run in the 1756-L61, and you need to match *exactly* the one that already exists in the field if you want to install this controller into an existing system. The two current Redundancy released that are in the v16 family are version 16.57 Standard and 16.81 Enhanced. You need to determine for certain what firmware is running in the field, and load your controller to match it. If what's running in the field is not one of the current releases, you'll need to get in touch with RA Technical Support directly to get the firmware.
