I have XP on my laptop. When I try to either uninstall or install another version of RSLinx I get this error:
Error 1316 a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\RSLinx.msi
Anyone ever come across this error before? I cannot uninstall RSLinx using Add/Remove programs or if I try to install another version with a disk.
Thanks

Try re-installing the same version you have on the PC. Then do the uninstall.
An output is a PLC's way of getting its inputs to change.

What if I don't have the original disk?

I've solved this issue once, using the Microsoft installer Cleanup Utility... I've attached it here below.

Extract the file, Install the utility, launch it, search for RSLinx and remove it.

Hope this helps,

I had a similar problem once so I loaded RSLinx2.1 or 2.2 as this version does not have the smart installer, I then rebooted and was able to uninstall RSLinx with Add/Remove programs and then install the latest version of RSLinx that I had.
