I want to establish communication between Siemens 400H PLC and a Linux PC through an etherner. I have found two solutions: SOFTNET from Siemens(http://www.industry.siemens.com/broschueren/pdf/services/en/SOFTNET_S7-LINUX_SOFTBUS-LINUX_en.pdf) and PLCIO( http://www.ctiplcio.com/ ). PLCIO is a software library which allows communication with Linux platform and Siemens PLC through ethernet.

Can someone please tell me how the two products may different. Also, what will be a better choice between PLCIO library and the SOFTNET.

Thanks and regards,

H.
