Hi

I am currently working on a project using a panelview plus 1000 and and a compactlogix plc. Over the last week i have been testing on my lap top using the test function on ME and the using the RSLogix Emulator 5000 Chassis Monitor without any problems.

The panelview (PV) has now arrived but unfortunately the plc is already in use on the process as we are completing and upgrade of the HMI.

I have set up the IP address on the PV, downloaded the application - replacing comms once i had set the comms to point to the emulation PLC. On the panel view i get the following message:-

'CIP connection (0) open rejected (Error 3120101) on route cip=1:14:53:13:32 in slot 14 of the virtual b*' - space ran out to display any more of the message.

I have been onto support who say what i have done should work.the only thing he suggested was moving the emulator processor to slot 1 but RS linx is fixed in there.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Alan,

I am getting the same error from a PanelView Plus 1500. I am also using Emulator 5000 and FactoryTalk View ME. Did you solve this problem?

Thank you,

Pablo

You can try using the Emulator's Channel 0 serial port by connecting a serial cable between your PC and the PanelView Puls terminal.

I have been onto support who say what i have done should work.the only thing he suggested was moving the emulator processor to slot 1 but RS linx is fixed in there.

Btw you can remove the Slot 1 RSLinx by terminate the RSLinx Enterprise service. Bring out the Windows Task Manager and end the process called "RSLinxEG.exe". You will see that the Slot 1 is now empty. RSLinx Enterprise is the native communication driver for FT View product and it will start automatically whenever you start the FT View Studio.

You have to start emulator & RSlink with driver. You now should see you emulator rack in RSLink. right clic on 1789-A17 backplane in RSLink Entreprise and select browse. You sould see your emulator card rack.
I left screen shot for help

Here is the proper way if you want to connect your PanelView Plus to RSLogix Emulate 5000 via Ethernet:

1. You must not delete the RSLinx Enterprise slot from the Emulator you must left the it running as shown in the following picture.
72939_01.gif
2. Open out your FTView Studio. Open any project and under the Communication Setup, right click on the Ethernet and select properties. Under the Ethernet properties tick the Listen on Ethernet/IP encapsulation ports and your RSLinx Enterprise's Ethernet communication port will be available through your PC's physical Ethernet port.

3. Open your targeted PanelView Plus project's in FTView Studio. Under the Communication Setup, right click on the Ethernet and add the device driver for RSLinx Enterprise (Check your revision, most properly will be Major Revision 2). You need to key in the IP address for the PC where you run the RSLogix Emulate 5000

4. Under the RSLins Enterprise driver add the RSLogix Emulate 5000 virtual PLC as your project device shortcut.

Appreciate you could feedback on your process after trying this method.

I followed this and unfortunately it's not working. Once I added the link under the Enterprise link under the EtherNet section, I added the backplane. I expanded that and it found my emulator. The PLC is in slot 5 (This is the way it was set up on the actual line).

I'm not getting a communication error on the HMI but its obviously not connected. I'm using a PV+1250 V6.10.

I've done this before by using an OPC topic instead of using the communication method to point to the emulator. Its worked great.
