CPM 2A 60CDR-D Output stuck

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys, I have the above PLC which developed a fault today. One relay output was stuck in the "on" state. The mimic display was NOT lit. I removed the PLC to get the model No off it so I could get a new one and when I put it back the stuck output had released. I ran the machine for a couple of hours and no further problem. I had powered down the plc several times hoping it would release but no joy until I actually removed it Omron is not my bag, so would appreciate any feedback on this type of problem, i.e. is it a known fault of this model or is the output under too much load, or something else. many thx P&S

This is why, now I often wire some outputs (Hydraulic valves especially) to external relays, like G2RV. If you or someone else have some ability with a solder gun, that relay is easy to change. Or, you can move that output to another that is not used. If you change that PLC, since this model is obsolete you will have to look for a CP1L. What is the load? Edited by pfort

The load is a couple of electrovalves, small pneumatic valves, nothing spectacular, but the machine has a 5 second cycle time. I have one on its way from ebay. I really would like to just swap out the relay base and keep the existing brain, if that's possible. Thought about moving the output but have yet to find a spare ( or sacrifice one that's a nice to have) lol Edited by plugsandsparks

I never use relay output PLCs for just this reason - I also use G2RV relays - easy yo change outside the PLC. No, it not a known problem with the PLC just a known problem with worn out relays. When you consider the age of the PLC - it is now quite old and no longer supported - and a 5 second cycle the relay has probably done more operations than its design life and MBTF. Replace the PLC for mine with a CP1L, transistor outputs and external relays.
