Remote pressure vessel process control

Hi all, have a 5000 litre pressure vessel approx 650 metres from control room. Need to monitor pressure to activate centrifical pump via variable speed drive,and interface with citect scada system. In design stage at present,should I use remote PLC over ethernet or remote I/O. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Too far for Ethernet unless you run fibre optic with converters - I normally use the Adam ones from Advantech - seamless. Have a look at CompoNet - I think it can run 750 metres over a twisted pair at the slowest speed - I guess a small time delay would not bother you - Citect will be slower.
